webfact Posted June 12, 2023 Posted June 12, 2023 Phuket – A local taxi driver allegedly attacked and jumped onto a mobile application taxi car with a foreign passenger inside in the Thalang district. Ms. Ben, last name withheld, 35, a female taxi driver, filed a report to the Cherng Talay Police on Sunday (June 11th). She told police that she picked up a foreign passenger from the Bolt application in front of a restaurant in Bang Tao. Popular Post flyingtlger Posted June 12, 2023 Popular Post Posted June 12, 2023 I would rather pay a marginal surcharge and wait a few minutes to use Grab Taxi then have to haggle with an unscrupulous taxi driver or one that refuses to use a meter. 6
Popular Post Geoffggi Posted June 12, 2023 Popular Post Posted June 12, 2023 Why are the aurthorities so reluctant to engage in a positive manner with the Phuket taxi drivers, is their mafia so strong that the police cannot handle them?? 5 6 3
ChipButty Posted June 12, 2023 Posted June 12, 2023 I see there is a new taxi app on it's way, things could get worse 1
Popular Post sikishrory Posted June 12, 2023 Popular Post Posted June 12, 2023 Totally different moral standards. Where I come from intimidating and being violent and physical with a woman is mostly unheard of. It just shows that you're a immature coward with no balls. More so there is a pride and feeling of moral obligation to protect woman. I couldn't even say this is behaviour that you would expect from a primate. Even they seem to show love and caring to those around them. 3 2
Popular Post sikishrory Posted June 12, 2023 Popular Post Posted June 12, 2023 How could this be? I suppose when "Phuket Taxi Drivers Asked to be More Polite to Tourists" 8 days ago they didn't ask nicely enough? Really strange. I thought when you ask criminals to stop they just... stop. 1 1 5

BOLT is the same as Grab, operates on a downloadable app., except BOLT is marginally cheaper than Grab and BOLT app. is easier to use. In Chiang Mai and Bkk BOLT app. users can select from 3 options on the app. - a car with usual taxi signage (but more expensive) - an ECONO car, late model car in good condition and very clear, no taxi markings (about 10 to 15% cheaper than option 1 (full taxi signage), or - M/cycle taxi, good rates. I guess Phuket is the same. With BOLT passenger can add further pick up location etc., details in English, SUBMIT and the app. automatically translates to Thai and sends to driver. Same in reverese if driver sends note to waiting passenger. Works very well. With BOLT have to pay in cash, QR code payments coming. 2 1

You are pretty much on the mark with this comment, and the reason no clampdown comes is because the authorities and the taxidrivers and their "union" are integrated with regards to money and fees. It is all controlled and the only way to break it would be to clear out the local BIB as well as the tuk tuk and taxidriver consortiums and start again.........but there is money involved so that's not likely to happen. Corruption rules here, we shouldn't forget that. 2
