As someone has already stated i also have visited these clinics (2 different clinics) once to be stitched up for a cut on my finger and another time had my blood sugar level checked as others were having it done. I was not charged on either occasion. I offered payment but it was refused.

i doubt any Thai is going to be turned away

Example: for years there was a tiny shopfront on Petchaburi Rd., in Bkk. opposite Pantip Plaza. MyAdmin. mngr took many Thai and farang employees there, some were sick, some needed medical certificates. (e.g. for Work Permits). 

 

The 'Dr' spoke good English, for work permit med certificates he always look quickly at the 'patient' and said 'two arms, two legs, one head you pass'.

No, the anamai are government clinics.

 

LOL! I also know of a clinic very similar to yours. He is the only clinic open in the daytime in Hat Yai, I needed a sick note for my employer and I went to this clinic. 
 

He proudly displays a certificate from Stanford University on his wall, although there was nothing wrong with me, he insisted on a checkup and told me I only had months to live and that I should have this saline drip. ???? We used to get out drivers license and WP certificates from him too as he was open until 11.00 pm - in reality, you pressed the buzzer and woke him up. Same story, “so .. feeling ok? Any problems? There you go 50B for Thai, 100 for “farang” .. when I went there, always old people there on saline drips, always made me chuckle. 
 

But, yeah, evening clinics are usually staffed by doctors from the hospital and anamai are usually by government nurses, but I agree there are fake clinics.

Not inconceivable for an expat in UK to check with those who have knowledge on this forum.

On a previous post the OP mentioned the young lad attends school, meaning he will be registered at an address local to the school.

 

Each local "Anamai" clinic will have a full list of all addresses for their catchment area.

 

If someone from that address has been to the clinic before, there will be a file for that address ( our local still only has hard copy files but are looking at computerising soon). Each time a family member goes there, I guess with house book, they will then be added to the file. My name is in the file for our address, I believe my wife showed copy of my passport along with her house book. My name is in our house book as father of our daughter. This was enough for them to register me.

 

I have never been charged for any treatment although I did make a donation when I'd had a course of 3 chiropractic treatments.

Some will know already but leaving my situation also means walking bout on a 5 1/2years old boy who is my girlfriends son. I’m trying to not throw the baby out with the bath water. Keeping friends close and enemies closer. But right now I’m not talking to her , just the little one when he face times me. She thinks she can just trot a story out. The clinic was this time. I just blanked her and.now little Dang is better. I had thought today how I went to the local Hospital in PhonPhiSai and never got charged more than the drugs when I developed Cellulitis in my leg, the first time. 
 

As I’ve said she gets more than 500baht a day from my 10k and her jobs 7k but she’s asking for money pleading poverty 10 before she’s due her salary from me on the 25th. She gonna learn the hard way what budgeting is.

Glad the kids OK. I know a lot of people living on less than 17k a month, so wonder if the addiction that you mentioned, is the root cause of the problem?

Its a common problem in Isaan. I used to live in a village near to the Surin to Prasat (Chon Chom) road and remember seeing all the silver minibuses shipping Thais to the casino's 24/7.

BPH charges me like 1900 thb just for visit. Not sure about your experience.

 

A clinic will run like 300 thb including a bag of meds.
