Serious political persecution

Featured Replies

The establishment are trying to force Nigel Farage out of the UK by closing his bank accounts, without no explanation being given (well, they said 'commercial reason').

You may or may not agree with his political thoughts, but that's not the way it's supposed to be.

Now, just imagine how it will be when we only have the CBDC with no cash, and when the Government can control what and how much we spend our money on, and can freeze our accounts at will if our social credit rating is too low.

I think I'm going to need some popcarn and beer for this thread.

Must be a reason why they can do this to Nigel.

People in Thailand are having their UK bank accounts closed.

It was  stated over one year ago that the Brexit party (chairman Mr N Farage) had received, undeclared to the Election Committee, money of dubious origin from an Isle of Man company (Proprietor Mr A Banks). The rumour was that perhaps some of this money ended up in the wrong account.

As Mr N Farage stated, it was an honest mistake gov, our party members are so shortsighted it is easy for them to deposit money in the wrong account number.

So if N Farage cannot get an account in UK and his not bothered he can still have a IOM bank account.

Conspiracy theory number 108.

As King Charles banks with the same bank as Mr N Farage (Coutts). he has made it clear he will not bank with an establishment that permits ruffians and vagabonds to have accounts. The ultimatum given was either Mr N Farage  goes or Chuck will close his account.

Or maybe this.

Building society admits it would close customers’ accounts if they are rude or discriminate.

Yorkshire Building Society said it cut ties with a client who questioned the use of Pride flags in their branches

It suggests that if you engage in wrongthink and thoughtcrime, as so many of these right-wing figures do, then your days as a fully entitled citizen of the UK are numbered.

I believe that Farage has openly said that in response to this aktion he may be forced to move overseas, though that could be mere posturing

It is notable that in the UK, it is the right wing which wants to defund the police, believing that they have turned into the Woke Protection Unit, spending all of their time checking Twitter for thoughtcrime, dancing in the street with costumed weirdos from Pride Month and Extinction Rebellion, kneeling before ethnic minorities and proving unwilling or unable to prevent actual crime.

Seems he was offered another UK bank account for when his Coutts Bank one is closed, so doubtful he'll have to move overseas.

Correct, he was lying through his teeth.

He simply didn’t have the funds to keep his Coutts account open.

So he went on a ‘They’ve got it in for me’ whinge fest.

The odious little toad should have kept quiet and nobody would have known he’s not as rich as he thinks he is.

Who really cares?

I don't understand why people are interested in others wealth.

What effect does it have on their daily lives? None.

Who said I was in the least bit interested?

My guess is holding an account at Coutts is a bit of a trophy for those fixated on projecting their wealth,

Nevertheless the fact remains Farage was lying through his teeth.

What a Karen he is.

Indeed. We expats living in LOS with UK bank accounts should IMHO be far more exercised about the "serious political persecution" which is being directed against us personally by our UK banks whenever they gleefully see fit to close our accounts with them on a whim, just because we no longer reside in the UK.

Looks like the banks are being summoned to the Treasury for a dressing-down on this matter. But will this stop them in their tracks from arbitrarily telling us expats who hold accounts with them to get stuffed? Not holding my breath, personally.

Sooner or later, someone will follow the money, and Mr. Farage may end up in the monkeyhouse.
