The fact that he couldn't sell them because trading in the company's shares had been suspended is surely relevant, though. 2 1

If they don't get you one way, they get you another. They could simply have said, as soon as he won the election: "You will never be PM.". The subsequent 2 months or so has just seen a lot of theater and blowing smoke, activities which are known as "the Thai way", which is celebrated in the national anthem. Is that like "My way"? The Sid Vicious version, that is.
GregBow Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 So he is suspended, but if cleared can they change the PM mid term? If the senate is ??? after next year can the government be reshuffled?

If the senate is ??? after next year can the government be reshuffled? The CC will reconvene in 15 days, so Pita has that time to prepare his defense, which he probably did months ago. In the meantime, he could stand again for PM as he doesn't have to be an MP to do that. I guess that could happen tomorrow. If he wins, it'll be trebles all round. If not, then Srettha will take his shot. Will PT stay with MFP? That's going to be a really key decision. It's difficult if not impossible to know just how many Senators will refuse to back a candidate from a party in a coalition with MFP. Maybe enough will soften their stance. Something PT will have to poll them on. If it looks unlikely, PT will most likely ditch MFP and join up with BJT and the "Democrats". That would work for the Senators, for sure. Either way, for a party that actually polled the most votes and won the most seats, it would be a totally disgraceful outcome if they were locked out of government. They broke the mold. They had the balls, the guts and the determination to take on the creepy establishment. They refused to back down. It could be they will end up with just their parliamentary seats. Unless the CC disband them. ???????????????????? 2 1 1 1

Life goes on and things are quickly forgotten. We then wait another 4-5 years and it all repeats itself. I have come to Thailand since 1997 and I don’t know how many times I have thought “NOW there will be BIG trouble!”. Never happens as it would require consistency from all (and real balls) to beat and take down the system. So just enjoy the weather and go for a swim. mesothelium Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 Southeast Asian societies do not turn on a dime. MFP have definitely outperformed. At least, by even daring to tackle the question of Section 112 reforms, they've cracked open what was previously a taboo topic. Change in Southeast Asia occurs over generations, not years. Note that, in neighbouring Malaysia, it took 25 years from the time Anwar Ibrahim kicked off his "Reformasi" movement to taking power as Prime Minister.
