1. The magnificant mountain scenery of Lanna.

2. Inexpensive diesel for my pick-up truck (allowed me to explore most of Northern Thailand).

3. Being invited to be a Tourist Police Volunteer (after 34 years in UK Police Service).

4. Chiang Mai.

5. Thai Air Asia's bargain tickets for domestic and local ASEAN destinations ("Fly-Thru")

living amongst a population who are still allowed to be patriotic and proud of their heritage, which is  totally different to my home country (uk) where that would be considered extreme right wing

Searching out barely legal females when 60 is certainly a predator, if not whats wrong with women old enough to be his daughter, rather than granddaughter? Perverts and those sexually exploiting poor girls (as he admits) always seem to have their defenders on here, not hard to see why. ????

I think you are arguing at cross purposes. I’ve certainly made mistakes when riding and happily have not had my life ruined because of it. Perhaps that is to what he was referring. That life here is not as strict as in his home country. No one is perfect; we can make mistakes. More natural as opposed to totally rigid.

My point is I am  a careful driver. Being accident-free in Thailand for 10 years is an achievement.

If you want to do the holier-than-thou act, let me ask if you have ever driven a vehicle after imbibing. Or toking. I don't.

It's not unlawful to use a mobile phone while driving here either. That does not mean it's a clever thing to do.

You're fixated on obeying rules. I drive according to the road conditions.

Can you honestly say you have never exceeded a speed limit?

question....have you spent numerous years driving in and around bkk. in the last 4 years alone i must be around 130 000 km of riding a scooter and big bike.

 

if most of your time has been spent driving in chaing mai/rai then there is really no comparison. if you have then ok.
