Why? Legal counsel had a responsibility to defend the accused. It was their moral and legal obligation to do so. The judge applied the law based upon the facts presented in court as was the judge's duty to do so. You are angry because the rule of law was upheld. It is the law that must be changed. The lawyers carried out their duties as they were intended. Your argument is for a society without the rule of law. There are many boats and rafts that are available, donated to the UK through the generosity of new arrivals from France. I suggest that the group you identify be sent on a sea cruise to France using the aforementioned flotilla. They can apply for refugee status. No they did not let them in. Every time the government tried to stop the inflow, Labour, social activists, dogooders and radical unions vociferously opposed effective action. The responsibility of the debacle lies entirely with the people of the UK because they refused to allow the government to take action. The EU is also responsible, encouraging France to facilitate the dumping of the migrants. The people who consistently condemn Brexit, never ever acknowledge how much the EU is responsible for the crisis because of its policy of dumping migrants in the UK. -

This seems a stupid drunken post. I'm sure you've been there to make such an assertion, so if there's any truth to it you can post it with evidence to this forum so that others can learn for your experience. I'm sure we can forward this evidence to the relevant authorities so that they can take action. You'll perhaps be surprised to know that those relevant authorities are the Chinese Government as they won't want anything to put off potential visitors to their country as the Government gets significant revenue from tourism. You should also know that if you make such statements about Thailand then you may have broken the Thai National Security Law. -

What's done is done its no good blaming others from years gone by. What is important is the release of murder's and Rapist locked up and one released they use the old Human Rights ticket and as usual we have to pay them on release instead of sending them back to there Country of origin. -

Thailand or UK for schooling
I'm British, in my early 30s and have been in Thailand for 5 years. I now have a Thai partner and two half thai children. At the moment life is comfortable in bangkok, I have a job in IT and make enough. The problem is I don't make enough to send my kids to the international schools when they reach that age ehoch i think would ensure a very good education. So I'm wondering what the options are beyond the thai public school system which I hear are not so good. But I wonder if there are other options in Thai and like middle ground between public and international? Another option is to move back to the UK which I'm not so keen on due to weather, lifestyle, cost of living etc. But the public schools are better. Also another concern I have is although I am white I know racism against South east asian especially thai can be overtly racist in general possibly worse in the schools. My children are obviously visibly eurasian but currently mingle with alot of other mixed race Thai children so don't feel so isolated, maybe not the case in UK. -

What is a good sandwich filler? except cheese or ham
Hummus. I really like hummus, especially the varieties that can include roast peppers or eggplant. It is "fattening", but very filling. No need for any condiments since good hummus will be moist. For some added crunch I will put lettuce leaves or bell pepper slices in it. I often do it as a wrap, using the high protein thin wraps that Tops has. -

My understanding is that the proposed new legislation is not as clear cut as Thailand’s 180 days. If you genuinely maintain a domicile in Australia, and have certain long term links to Australia, you would still be a tax resident, while being present for less than 183 days, possibly need to be there minimum of 45 or maybe 90 days. Can’t see the Australian tax office declaring someone a non resident for tax purposes just because they had a 7 month round the world holiday post retirement. For some wealthy people, it’s a big advantage to be non resident for tax purposes, and the tax office wouldn’t want to make it as easy for them as just being out of the country for 183 days. Of course, things don’t look so good for someone who’s obviously not been living in Australia for several years. -

Rising Homelessness in the US Linked to Migrant Influx and Economic Pressures
The new arrivals, for the most part, will probably be absorbed into existing immigrant communities around the country and will soon be doing jobs that native Americans either can't or won't do. I doubt that many will end up being long-term homeless on the streets of New York or other cities. The ordeal of getting into the US through the Darien Gap and/or a trek through Mexico has already served as a filter to deter the unmotivated or unable. If we want to be indignant about the use of taxpayer money, I think a better case could be made to curtail agricultural subsidies and price supports that simply go into the coffers of Big Ag. Likewise uneconomical ethanol production for use in motor vehicles that couldn't exist without government mandates. These welfare schemes for large corporations and millionaire farmers make the amounts spent on housing immigrants look like chump change. The immigration issue is really small potatoes, but it is useful to Republicans to get xenophobes riled up. The fact is, without immigration the US faces a severe labor shortage going forward. The only way to address this shortage is to accept people from countries that produce economic migrants. That rules out places like Norway, despite Trump's wishes. I did not find the story here to be about Islamic extremism. Rather, it was a story on prejudice. Muslims have consistently been given a pass on prejudice. It's as if their status as a minority group gives them a get out of jail card in life for discrimination against others. At the same time we see a story on Reform and Farage and the intent to rid the Reform party of extremist views. This can be argued to be a balance. To date, we have seen a large number of stories on the racist ignorant mobs who rampaged following the dance school stabbing tragedy. Almost never any mention of the constant mayhem in some muslim dominated districts. The reality is that pasty white British nationalists have not gone on killing sprees in public places. Nor do they descend upon people who look like jews physically assaulting them and demanding their deaths, nor do they attack mosques. It isn't much to cover. Even Tommy Robinson is a bit of a washout since he is rather benign and not particularly violent. -

Are tiled-Thai roofs designed so that they will leak a little, during horizontal rain?
Dear Folks, I love living in the old Thai houses, with hardwood floors. I love them more during the Hot-Dry Season, however. For example, my house has a roof of traditional tiles which leaks unless the rain falls directly down, with zero wind. Even then, sometimes it seems to leak. Have you ever looked up at a roof from the inside? Because, there is really NOTHING there, seemingly, holding up the roof tiles, other than sticks and splinters of wood. Sure, they look fine from the outside. But, from the inside.....there is really almost nothing there. It's like, if these roofs were on houses in Taiwan, with the Typhoons, and SUPER TYPHOONS, typical of Taiwan....then....the would be gone...in a... NEW YORK MINUTE. Why do they build roofs this way in Thailand? Is it because they do not want to use up too much wood from the local jungle, in order to protect the environment? And, also, what to do about a leaking roof, which is probably not even strong enough to hold up a roofing-worker who might dare to clamber above... Just to try to stem the leaks? And also, what is the point of painting a ceiling in one of these houses...since.... After you put a fresh coat of paint on the ceiling, then....its....SURE to be.... Quickly discolored when the leaks from the next Raining Season begin to fall from the roof, onto the ceilings above one's head. So many questions. And, another question: Why not just cover the entire roof with that ZERO-COST plastic material.... Which is discarded from Advertising.... You know the type I am talking about about.... I am talking about the recycling of the PVC or Plastic Giant Advertising sheets that are discarded....like this one.... During the Raining Season, if I had about 10 of these Ad Banners...then I could just throw them up on my leaking roof.... And tie them down... And then ALL would be well. I have seen these used in other 3rd-World countries. But, I doubt that they might go over really well with my neighbors. So then... Is there a different and better solution, one that is almost as low cost? Fair enough. If you are looking for generally unbiased news, try the English language service of DW from Germany. I find that of all the international news sources the Germans are consistently honest and fair in their news reporting. France24 is usually informative, except on middle eastern issues, where it becomes politically correct, perhaps out of deference to the very vocal North African population in France. USA's NPR is also reliable, even though Trump supporters keep calling it left wing. (Which is weird since NPR is funded by multiple family trust charitable donations, families who are often identified as Republican supporters.)
