Villagers Discover 5-Meter King Cobra Near Seaside Home

In a rare coastal encounter, villagers stumbled upon a colossal 5-meter long king cobra entangled near their residence.

 

The astonishing snake, weighing around 47 kilograms, had sought refuge beneath a palm tree. Rescuers from the Mirakel Wildlife Rescue Center in Krabi, Thailand swiftly intervened upon receiving reports from residents of Tambon Talinchan, reported Sanook.

The villagers were captivated by this unprecedented sighting, as the region is not known for hosting such serpents due to its proximity to the sea.

 

The rescue team successfully freed the snake from the snare, ensuring its safety.

 

According to Ms. Tim, 59, who initially discovered the reptile, the unexpected encounter left her in awe. Local authorities confirmed that this king cobra is a rarity in the area, where ordinary cobras are typically found.

 

Plans are now underway to release the serpent deep into the forest, where it can thrive undisturbed.

When I see the news on snakes, I am amazed at how humans survived in this part of the world back in the day.  Two hundred years ago, there were probably hundreds or thousands of these bad boys around villages at night and daytime.  How did they survive?

Because snakes that large can’t eat a fully grown human being, plus at that size they’re fairly slow, too, and humans are not part of their regular food sources either.

Two hundred years ago the Thai's had huge knives on their backs. That snake would be BBQ for the village. Pass the Lao Khao.
