Did you really just post some graph from 2017 under yor claims about his it’s going for the EU?

Yes you did.

Dear oh dear Chomps.

I was showing how much the UK and Germany contributed before the UK left and Germany declined. The whole point was to show how well the EU was doing in 2017 compared to now (I even mentioned the "6 short years" in the post and linked to an article just 2 days old for a comparison).

Come on Chomps, you're better than that.

Silly leftists trying to make it all about them. No wonder The Guardian was so quick to report on it, the BBC probably tipped them off before it even happened. Maybe the 2 organizations went 50/50 on the flags and the paid stooges? ????

Seven years since the vote and they still cannot accept the will of the people. Sad little flag wavers.

Meanwhile, more evidence of incorrect predictions and reporting of gloom and doom in the UK economy. I wonder how that could possibly have happened???? ????:clap2:

Do you have evidence that the people waving EU flags at the last night of the Proms were, as you claim, ‘leftists’?

I also provided a linked report from the Daily Mail. I wonder if your conspiracy of the ‘BBC tip-off’ was there too?

What’s seven years got to do with anything, in a democracy people are permitted to hold and express their own views, change them even. There is not tyrant of the ballot box.

Yes, contributed. I see you can read. Well done.

So you should also be able to read this from 2018 (I didn't use 2023 figures because the UK has left the EU in case you hadn't read that).

The graph is of national share of percentage of over all EU economic size.

Did you need a graph to tell you the UK was included in the calculation in the period prior to leaving the EU?

Yes. Germany was top and UK was second.

Now, Germany is in decline and the UK has gone. Tell me how that works out for the EU.

Yes, these sad little flag wavers can wave their EU flags for the next 50 years for all I care. We've left.

The EU remains the largest integrated developed market in the world.

That’s how it works.

The will of the people, having seen the total shambles of an aftermath of the brexit vote, the complete inability of any of the vote leave proponents to actually deliver what they promised (although what they promised was so nebulous and ethereal that this is moot) and the devastation that brexit has had on industry across the UK, is now firmly in favour of undoing the colossal mistake of 2016 and rejoining the EU.

Please respect that.

Oh really? Back to some facts after some gaslighting.

Bad luck in the game last night BTW. But you did better than I expected.

Enjoy the self harming while it lasts.

Self harming you say? Unfortunately for you, the news (that you kept quoting) about the UK being the only country not to reach pre-pandemic levels turned out to be a lie. Much like Project Fear. What a surprise.

These are the facts that matter:

Britons would vote to rejoin the EU

The majority of UK voters want to join the EU. The wreckers are in the minority. Time to undo the damage they caused.

To be honest, I have never been that interested in football - I didn't even know it was on till I saw it on the BBC app.

You keep talking about damage, but when presented with the economic facts about the performance of the UK economy (and that of Europe) you just start gaslighting again. The UK is doing very well considering the impacts of Covid and the war in Ukraine (which has also impacted the EU greatly). All that stuff about the UK being the only country in the G7 not to reach pre-pandemic levels turned out to be a lie as well.

Not lies, there were the ONS own statistics.

And now, guess what? The ONS has changed the calculation method by using the SUT framework, and applied it retrospectively to 2020 and 2021 (which other OECD countries have not done yet! ????

https://www.ons.gov.uk/economy/grossdomesticproductgdp/articles/impactofbluebook2023changesongrossdomesticproduct/2023-09-01

Despite the increase brought by changing the calculation method, UK is still below Eurozone for current GDP growth. It is also below Eurozone compared to pre-pandemic level (despite the fact that Eurozone countries have not applied the new GDP enhancing method as UK did).

https://commonslibrary.parliament.uk/research-briefings/sn02784/

Be also careful about what you wish about Germany. The UK economy is still very dependent on Germany's economy, directly and indirectly through the whole EU economy.

Imo it probably means that there will be difficult discussions during forthcoming EU budget negotiations among the member states.

Now explain how dissolving the Single Market and Customs Union is going to help in this context?

Voters back home might have been impressed if Sunak come back from India with a trade deal, after all that’s why he went to India.

In a slap to Global Britain ‘s hopes India’s PM Modi cancelled his scheduled meeting with Sunak and met instead with Biden.

It seems ‘Global Britain’s’ influence is waining.

Sunak came home empty handed, worse still the UK isn’t in on the India, Middle East, EU and US Economic Corridor announced at the G20 meeting.

Nevermind, post Brexit Britain is now being allowed to use carcinogenic pesticides in food production.

The Guardian has a different line

UK-India trade deal ‘not guaranteed’, says Sunak before Modi meeting

PM’s crunch meeting with Indian counterpart at G20 hoped to smooth way for free trade deal

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2023/sep/08/uk-india-trade-deal-not-guaranteed-says-sunak-before-modi-meeting

You appear to be the only person expecting him to come back with a fully signed trade deal

I like your line of argument:

Sunak managing expectations ‘downwards’.

A big win. Sure! ????

From the article:

"Of these chemicals, 12 have been classified as carcinogens, nine have been found to be endocrine disruptors, which interfere with hormones and are linked to infertility, and eight are developmental or reproductive toxins that have also been linked to fertility problems. Two are cholinesterase inhibitors that can impair the respiratory system, and one is classified as acutely toxic."

And...

"UK food exports containing pesticides that EU growers aren’t allowed to use, are likely to be rejected. Given that the EU still accounts for around 60% of UK agricultural exports, the impact on farmers could be devastating.”

Another evidence of FiNO! ????

Also from the same article

Thirty of the 36 were allowed for use in the EU when the UK left on 31 January 2020 but have since been banned by the bloc, and the remaining six have been approved by the UK government but not the EU since then.

Yeah the EU will be fleecing member states for more cash in return for sweet FA. Well not exactly nothing, the parliamentarians get wonderful careers and lifestyles in exchange for restricting what member states can do.

I was never opposed to the common market. It was a good idea. The E.U. is a different animal. They overreached and will pay the price.
