Saturday morning rant....

Talk about getting hit for 6, a cricket term for the non Commonwealth members, like we are in a world of you pay us and we deliver a service to you, pushing us online so they can hide easily, at least in Australia the provider provides a service you pay for it and your meant to get your moneys worth.

 

Lets start with a booking hotel company no names but I just said it, they with a number of affiliates control id think more than 50% of hotel reservations, booked 6 hotels mainly in Europe plus a hire car, well there was a data breach 2 weeks ago hackers email me through the booking company's app of the first hotel I booked telling me a story about verifying my account by clicking on a link that takes you out of the app fill in your payment details with the promise of a refund once verified, contacted the hotel and the booking company to confirm that there had been a breach, well lets say the hotel owned up but the booking company just advised me to change my password and went silent, never to reply to any emails over this particular breach again, meanwhile several days later find my credit card had been compromised, we can't be sure who got breached but its all over the net that that particular booking company has been targeted constantly over 5 ys and they still to improve there Sercurity, between links, phishing emails and credit card fraud nothing seems to have been done...This same hotel booking co I had issues with 12 ys ago in India, replied twice then a total ignore....as they're doing now, I didnt use them for years but you know how it is....Im in the process of rebooking hotels through a different company with hopefully no links with that one, anyway one good thing that came out of it I learned about the digital/virtue card, pay freeze and delete get a new one...simple....

 

A Pattaya internet provider....every evening 6 out of 7 nights it gets to be a struggle to airplay, sometimes the net is slow on the pc, had them out 3 times changed the router...same same but no different, again take to the net...there well known for this sort of thing...anyway its not costing me the earth when contract is up look for hopefully a better provider...

 

Bought a new Mac mini m2....2 weeks ago....doesnt work like my MacBook, won't airplay at all....well it did before the new ios update, plus a few other things, honestly the worst thing that happened to Apple was Steve Jobs death, don't what ever you do upgrade your iOS when the new one comes out, I recall one year 5 months of drama with my phone....patiently waiting for an iOS update for the Mac mini.....

 

Streaming NFL, well shock horror Gameplay was sold to some new company, another one who fobs you off or feigns that they don't understand you, again they took your money super pronto and theres a lot of unhappy people who have voiced there displeasure in forums like Reddit over being billed when they did not have the renew button set as well as folks who only bough the one show or limited shows from this particular company found that they been charged a full subscription to Gameplay, but to top it off the actual stream during the preseason games was a disaster, lot of people including me had trouble watching it, this company chat box specialist was a head f*** trying to get them to understand me, later emailed them same same, not address any of my issues, never the less id half expected they would get the stream and content right by game one......hahahah well the first half last night was fine, airplay from iPad, the quality was ok needed to adjust the telly settings to make it look better, content was fixed up, second half? unwatchable.....7000B payed to stream NFL, im sure they will fix it.......eventually....but in 2023 if the Indians can land a craft on the moon what's wrong with the rest of the planet?

 

And last......yesterday 30 min on call waiting to my AU bank, long distance of course, thanks booking company for the aggravation, got a dill (dill means a fool) on the other end for 10 min, as she moved me to the next person to speak to cut me off....phoned back no human, left on call waiting with annoying messages for 1 hr and 45 min....... hung up before I got too frustrated that id throw myself off the balcony....

 

Well one more.....Netflix moved the download button.....like how do you find the stuff you download to watch off line? checked this morning to watch on pending flights.....search the net....same same, some have it others can get it by reinstalling the app etc and other no can get anything....like a few poor guys were taking flights to find they had no access to there downloaded shows, honestly......the TGF cant understand why we farangs get moody over crap like this, her simple answer is don't watch ....dont subscribe, but she can sit on tick tock all evening for entertainment.....and be entertained.....Well that's may rant, I do expect better especially if im paying...

Apple is your problem. 

 

You should buy a very fast CPU motherboard COMBO. 

 

Then, just run Windows 10,11, or any good Linux distro. 

 

If you do this, you will never touch an Apple, again. 

 

 

Apple Mac Mini M2, (2 weeks old) software update threw it out, typical Apple who don't own the issues and could take 6 months to fix, IStudio told me to bring it in and they will have a look, fingers crossed.

 

And no no more windows pcs mate, ran them for years spent more on repairs and getting windows reinstalled than service 2 cars in that 10 year period...I do have a windows gaming laptop that was only ever turned on to play one game but with the Mac mini no longer need it, not going to thrash windows but the proof is since 2011 I have owned a iMac 9 ys never ever a problem daughter has had it last 2 ys same same, 2017 macbook pro, never ever an issue, unfortunately Apple and there updates are going sideways certainly got that twice in my phones, hardware wise they don't break down unlike my  now departed Dell laptop...

The name of the booking.company is I JUST SAID IT, here and in original post, 5 ys of breaches and its all over the net, of course didnt know until I went searching once they shut down communication, like I said they did it to me over a problem I had with an Indian hotel, go silent, customer service for issues is piss poor.....and yeah they own Agoda and a number of other booking platforms, unfortunately the hire car was paid when I booked, 6 hotels were booked with free cancellation, one I rebooked with a digital card as I couldn't find anything close that I liked in that city, and one in Istanbul is pay at hotel the other so im keeping that booking the other 4 cancelled and booked through a company not associated with the above mentioned, but these breaches are happing to many of these hotel booking platforms including the one im now using, the trick is book as late as you can and use a digital card then freeze and delete later.

Thanks, I will look into it, I do expect for DAZN to get there act together by playoff time, pretty sure the NFL are not impressed and would run the risk of having there 10 Billion $ contract terminated...

I have a neighbour that has no internet ( doesn't even have a computer ) and he's a lot happier than I. I'm too hooked to give it up, but if I could go back to 2000 I'd never buy that first computer, and be better off for that.

I did, no catch up, have Bingsport too they stream almost everything for a small fee but im not getting up at 4 am to watch the games, Dazn got there act together as far as quality of stream goes.
