Brexit: UK could rejoin EU as an ‘associate member’

The report is about a proposal for a redesign of the EU, in order to take into account the significant number of accession candidates -and also the differentiated attitude of current members towards further integration.

The third circle is not particularly targeted at UK. In particular, it can be conveniently used as waiting position for accession countries.

Absolutely. Clear and enforcable borders are an essential element of sovereignty.

The UK and the US could learn a lot from the way Thailand respects and protects it's own culture.

Long live the nation state.

Back to the UK and BREXIT.

What happened to that promise to get control of the UK’s borders?

Nope 2072 anyone that was 18 in 2016 will be aged 74  and EU likes to link dates so 1972 when the UK joined the EU

and the majority of the 33,577,342 million people who voted in 2016 will have moved on to Paradise or a different realm

So you say that 33+BILLION (or is it trillion) people voted in 2016 EU referendum debacle.

That's what your figure and words say.

Indeed, as the EU are rather belatedly finding out; France has just sent soldiers, helicopters and drones to its border with Italy to prevent the surge of migrants from entering France. Georgia Meloni has just said that she will not allow Italy to become the refugee camp of Europe. Africa is invading Europe, and the EU remains completely passive to the invasion. You cling to that hope. It's never going to happen.

Despite some tactical polling now showing support for rejoining, the people of the UK would never accept the new EU terms for rejoining once those terms were made clear before any referendum.

We'll never rejoin.

Never say never.

Inevitable that the EU would come crawling back to us once they realized what we brought to the table.

I think the best reply to the EU would be "Don't call us, we'll call you."

Dream on, little Dreamer:cheesy:

What, not even the millions that enter a country illegally, having destroyed any form of identification, and consequently concealing any information about themselves, including any possible terrorist links, or criminal record  ….. the level of delusion that you have achieved is quite breathtaking

Millions have entered the UK illegally?

Are you exaggerating?

You didn't address any of the other points except the opportunist lawyers looking to bend the rules at every turn. Interesting.

Sorry you feel short changed.

I don’t have any mates in France who are in anyway commented to immigration policies or diplomatic relations with the UK.

I spent most of the summer dealing with the NHS, almost every single medical professional I came across was a foreigner, as were most of the support staff.

The cost of providing accommodation to asylum claimants is directly related to the Government’s failure to clear asylum seekers and deport bogus asylum seekers (nobody is objecting to bogus asylum seekers being deported - the Government need to get on with it).

Merkel dealt with Putin pushing refugees towards EU borders.

As a general note, if you go off on another of your rants, I don’t owe you a response to all your ill informed nonsense.

Read what I said agin, but slowly this time, so that you can understand; I said “not even the millions that have entered A country illegally” … how did you manage to interpret that as saying entered the UK (rhetorical)

Go to the top of the thread, you’ll find a clue to the country under discussion.
