There’s a sniff of high season in the air with the reopening of some of the most popular islands and island tours over the next few weeks.

Each year several of the most popular island trips are closed down due to the poor weather and rough seas, as well as a commitment from marine national park officials to give some of the most popular locations a rest from tourists once a year.

Maya Bay, for example, is closed down each year during August and September. The tourist magnet on Koh Phi Phi Leh was closed for nearly three years, including during the Covid pandemic for a much needed rest from the tourists. So the annual 2 month break is now an important part of the attraction’s eco-maintenance moving forward.
