Popular Post impulse
Hers' a novel thought... Why not enforce the laws you already have? Step 1) Get on Facebook, pretend to be kids, and buy up all the guns for sale there. Step 2) Ditto for all the other social media where guns are freely traded to kids (and adults) 3

Popular Post foreverlomsak
PM Advocates for Strengthening Gun Laws All that does is make it harder for those that follow the laws and other rules. Will not effect in any way individuals with illegally held weapons, until they've done something to get caught, by then it's too late. 1 1

Popular Post peter zwart
You can create as many laws as you want, but if there is no enforcement, it is of little use. 1
Sigmund
Try first to enforce the road laws and laws on car maintenance that kill far more people.
dinsdale
As we all know any law in Thailand is dependant upon power, corruption and money. Guns are rife here but this time it was actually a child not a manchild offender. There are millions of guns in this country and it would be a minority that are registered.
Dogmatix
The main problem is the civil service welfare scheme that floods the country with a couple of hundred thousand discounted guns every year imported and sold by the Interior Ministry through proxies. Anyone who is a civil servant or works for a state enterprise is eligible including people like village defence volunteers. Many of them attempt to file off of the serial numbers and sell their guns on the black market. Then file a lost gun report and buy another. Guns imported through this scheme were used to start the killing spree of the soldier in Korat, by the ex-cop who went on the rampage in a kindergarten and the murder of the police major on behalf of Kamnan Nok. That's all the recent notorious murder cases except the one in Siam Paragon. These guns also leak out into neighbouring countries and are found used in crimes there. Just shut it down. But Anutin is not going to consider this because of the huge profits involved which must leak in several directions since proxies are used in the distribution. Since the boy didn't even use a licensed gun at Siam Paragon, why not crack down on illegal firearms and ban the import and sale of those blank firing replica guns that can be do easily modified?
Nickcage49
That didn't take long. And he didn't call it a crackdown. I'm so disappointed. Yes, gun laws should be tightened.

SooKee
Mass frenzy of activity, concern and hot-air for 10 days then back to normal until the next frenzy inducing crisis shows up. Andycoops
They shouldn't advocate anything, just ban all sales full stop, it is the corrupt selling them and the criminals using them, absolutely no need for citizens to have them let alone a 14 year old. 1
brianthainess
This is not a new problem should have been done your first day in office, it is the biggest blight on Thai society IMO, don't just check road tax seat belt helmets, check for weapons as well. retarius
Look buying guns legally here is very expensive. What is the most expensive part of the transaction? The payment to the police for the licence is the most expensive....about 50-75K depending on the gun type.

They won't because the government is the main importer and seller of guns to private citizens through the civil service welfare scheme that imports a couple of hundred thousand guns of all types to be sold to civil servants and state enterprise employees. We are talking about a sales value of about 10 billion baht here. This is a huge money spinner for senior Interior Ministry officials. The issue of other import and other permits is also very lucrative for individuals. Edited October 5, 2023 by Dogmatix
