The usual unhelpful hand wringing from the Guardian, all that needs to happen is for the hostages to be released and for Hamas to surrender. There is not going to be a 'Palestine' now unless they want to rename Gaza, the Arabs were offered one 5 times since 1936.

I saw (in one commentary, opinion column or something like that) a suggestion that the IDF will set up a field hospital in the area of the Gaza Strip it controls, and patients from al-Shifa be transferred there during them humanitarian pauses (or whatever they are called). This would allow both for the safety of patients and medical stuff, score points in the PR front, and would make it possible for the campaign to go much faster. If Hamas attacks this field hospital it would get the same (or more) negative reactions Israel does right now.

 

I think it's not a bad idea, but not sure at all if it's possible security wise.

It is unfortunate that there are civilian casualties, but Hamas *knew* that Israel would strike back, and yet Hamas conducted the October 7 massacre without first providing shelters for Gazans. The massive casualties in Gaza are on Hamas.

Yeah, but the West Bank is ruled by the PA. Whenever Israel (or rather it's government, right wing parties, illegal settlers) do something like that, it just further undermines the PA, and bolsters support for Hamas. Plus, it's wrong.

 

Another thing it does is chip away at support offered by the USA and other Western countries.
