Government considers evacuation options for Thais in Israel

The Thai government is considering other options for the evacuation of Thais from Israel, in addition to flying them back in an Airbus-340 and five C-130 military transport planes of the Royal Thai Air Force, which have not been allowed to land in Israel.

 

An informed government source said that the Airbus-340 can carry only about 140 passengers and the flying time from Israel to Bangkok is about 10 hours. The problem is, however,where the plane will land in Israel.

 

According to the Thai Ministry of Defence, since Israel is selective in allowing military planes to land in the country, the other options are Saudi Arabia, Cyprus, Egypt and Jordan, in the case that military planes are used for the evacuation as originally planned. In which case, Thais who want to return home would have to be evacuated by other means of transport to one of these countries, and then board the planes back home, or by chartering a commercial plane which is still permitted to land in Tel Aviv, said the source.

Just put them on commercial flights with the tourists which according to another article seem to have no problem getting flights.

 

They could force or coerce the airline to carry them if they need to after all they make the rules up as they go here

Seems like a reasonable solution would be to use the Thai Air A340 to shuttle them from Tel Aviv over to Doha or Dubai, (or even an agreeable US airbase in the area), then take their time getting them back to BKK.

 

The sooner the better.

Yeah, probably not a good idea to fly a military plane into an active war zone.  Besides the Israel missle defense system identifying the aircraft as a threat, the Israeli Air Force taking resources away from Gaza I believe all their man power and focus is on ending this conflict in record time.

The government is deeply involved in the labor supply to Israel, so it is good that they recognize their responsibilities regarding the welfare of these tens of thousands of citizens. Hence the Minister of Labor is involved in dealing with the resulting problems caused by this attack.

b) if Israel denies landing rights, then send ElAl packing out of Bangkok and Phuket - trust me, you will get fifth freedom rights beyond Israel

There are over 20k Thais working in Israel. Hope that jumbo has enough fuel for 20 trips.

 

At last look, there have been 30, killed, captured or missing. Many for my area.

I'm not certain that RTAF (ex-TG/HS-TYV) A340 is air-worthy?

 

It was deemed unacceptable for the PMs vacation to NYC; he needed a TG A350.

 

I think it was used in May to ferry that hit-man (Mathew Dupre) from Vancouver back to Thailand for prosecution?

 

And then the last flight was in August for a MUC-BKK flight.

 

But maybe it's OK for a flight to TLV?

Foreign airlines (not many) continue to fly to Israel, as we post. Among them is Emirates. Check your facts before posting misinformation. Thai airways flights to Israel are usually code-shared with El-Al anyway.

As far as I'm aware, it was only Thai government officials talking about evacuating all Thai workers from Israel. The number of Thai workers which actually asked to be evacuated is a little over 1000.

I thought the Thai government-owned part of an Airline.  All they need to do is send a couple of Thai planes to Israel.  Problem solved.

It would help, if you would read the entire article by the OP stating "an Airbus-340 and five C-130 military transport planes of the Royal Thai Air Force, which have not been allowed to land in Israel." Swiss flew out 224 passengers from Tel Aviv yesterday on an extra flight on behest of the Swiss government - so much to checking facts!
