Nana open until 4am

Okay on the surface sounds I interesting but is there enough tourist money to make it work.

I can see girls making More money off drunks but not sure it would be financially viable for bars

One of the problems with such closing time is how many hours the girls work.

19:00 to 02:00: 7h

19:00 to 04:00: 9h

Will they want to and be able to perform for 9 hours?

It seems the "solution" for many places is to start later. So maybe the girls start at 8pm or 9pm - and the best girls will obviously arrive late.

And then there are the happy hour guys who have a drink when they leave their office. If the happy hour is from 5pm to 7pm, fine, then after that some guys will stay and pay the full price - which is the whole idea about happy hour.

I am sure some tourists will like it. But bar owners, especially in areas where locals go, are often not so excited.

Personally, I had enough to drink by 2am, I really don't need more of the same.

And I want to be able to walk in a bar at 8pm and don't see an empty stage because the girls arrive late.

I agree it seems that people think it will bring more money.  Imagine being mamasan starting at 5 having to stay until 430 then get home (Will buses still be running) go to sleep and start all over again 5 hours later.

There is an "easy solution": more drugs.

I once got out of bed 2am to check out some agogos at 2.30 at walking st, only leftovers left and all looked like they were ready for bed (sleeping), never tried it again

Early to mid 90s 2 gogos in Nana were open 6 pm till after 6 am. There were no shifts and the girls worked till the place closed or they got bar fined.

Plenty of customers all night, and most nights I'd be there till the traffic started in the morning.

However, by about 5 am enough dancers had been bar fined that it was OK for me to get up on stage and boogie with the girlfriend.

Happy days back then.

It worked because it was the best gogo in Nana, with great shows plenty of pretty naked ladies on stage and a good vibe.

PS, that was before the economic crisis when there were plenty of expats working in Bkk. After most of them left the place got sold and the new owners ruined it.

They used to do it, so no reason they can't again.

Good bars are always popular.

Would you like to try it.  most of these ladies did not do it.

You just made my point thank you.

The later that bars are open the later people venture out.

If bars are open until 2 then people will start around 10.

If the bars are open until 4 people will sit in their rooms drink beer or sleep and go out later.

No matter what it is the same money that is being spent whether it is at 10 am or not the idea that people will sit in a bar longer and spend more money is a fallacy.

The ones that stay until 4 will either arrive later.  The people that hurt will be the girls working at the bars although it may be easier to get a long time instead of a short time.

Clubs will do well because people can dance all night but how much they sell and people drink will be interesting to compare in a year.

Just because they might be able to stay open late doesn’t mean they all will.  But why not?

I’ve certainly been in bars in Thailand that were open late. Whether that was legal, I’m not sure.  It’s easy to get lost in the Twilight Zone. You’re out goofing around and the next thing you know, it’s 3:30 AM.

I remember years ago, when I was staying at Patong Beach, I was close to Bangla Road and could hear the music from the bars.  When the music finally died down, I knew the sun was about to come up. I guess back then nobody paid much attention to official closing hours.

In the mid 90s, Nana had customers from before 6 pm when the gogos opened, till when they closed, in some cases after dawn. There were 2 gogos that stayed open till dawn or after.

It changed a bit since then, now so many bars.  I know a couple of the girls working at one of the main bars when you first get on NANA and they are lucky to get a couple of drinks a night from patrons.

Tourists come for a drink and then leave not a whole lot of interest in the girls.

Can thank purachai for that. Before he ran amok destroying farang nightlife Nana was pretty wild. IMO it has never recovered.

Also because of the financial crisis of late last century. Before that happened Nana was full of expats working in Bkk. Many of them lost their jobs and had to go back home.

Hollywood Royale was the best gogo in Thailand IMO. 20 naked girls on stage, hard core porn on tvs, and outrageous live shows.  Bliss.
