So it seems neither human suffered no major damage, rather reputation of Pattaya Is the main victim.

My condolences to the victim and Pattaya residents.

These type of editorials give all the Pattaya haters somewhere to vent and thereby increase forum activity.

If only they could hire an actual reporter to convey the news instead of this emotive nonsense.

The image of Thailand being the Land of Smiles is sadly being eroded by these incidences.
sad. Stu.

Did you think this slogan was real? It never was an image, just a slogan to help with tourism.

So vlad was fooling around with his lady? Watch out for Putin’s men kidnapping him and straight to the Ukrainian front. They can use brave soldiers right now. Btw did he flee on foot or drove away?

Welcome to the Land Of Smirks. Please pay your entry tax at the kiosk and then proceed to the tax desk to pay duty on all money you have brought into our country. We will check your health care insurance to ensure you are covered for covid, traffic accidents and gunshot wounds.

Have a nice holiday.

The incident drew a concerned crowd of onlookers and the injured tourist was identified as Mr. Artem Kitaichik, a 27-year-old Russian national. Having sustained leg injuries from gunshots, he was in need of immediate medical assistance and hospitalization.

At the same time, the taxi driver fled from the scene and is now the primary target of an extensive manhunt led by law enforcement authorities.

This unfortunate incident has tarnished the reputation of Pattaya, a cherished tourist destination. The police are committed to their efforts to locate the suspect and ensure that justice is promptly served.

Thailand needs to stop shooting itself in the foot... pun intended.

A shocking incident unfolded in Pattaya as a young taxi driver brought chaos to the streets by threatening tourists with a firearm.

Yes, the Thai's in the first photo of the OP look very shocked.

'The police are committed to their efforts to' -  'tarnish the reputation of Pattaya,'

In tomorrow's news an honest taxi driver will return two million baht left in his taxi by a heavily pregnant tourist and her aged disabled father.

This unfortunate incident has tarnished the reputation of Pattaya, a cherished tourist destination. Surely it cannot happen to this Beautiful Family Seaside Paradise.....

The other day I saw the top cop photo op that they had a national crackdown raided and caught how many people weapon I believe story was thousand you knew they were full of <deleted>.

When it comes to taxi whether they are mafia or run need to have a national crackdown if they are serious in fixing problem sit them all down licence them how to drive, lesson in customer service the job is to provide a service to get people from point A-B safely without the lip service or drama. That it is a profession has standards meeting those standard you can earn a living if you want to a act like sn animal you lose that privilege.

From there use that method and standard to fix all the BS that goes on here! ????

Not to forget those taxi cheats who start right on arrival at Suvarnabhum airport in Bangkok.

Taxi drivers refusing the meter, pretending not to understand english when it suits them or inventing absurd extra charges.

This gives a bad image of Thailand and often gets reported in the western press in Europe to warn tourists before high season. Many countries issue warnings to their citizens on such scams in Thailand to warn tourists before the high season.

This criminal incident in Patts with the taxi driver is however a league above. But nobody seems to care in Thailand as usual and you will always have the gullible claiming all is fine.

I never argue at the taxi stand in arrivals of Bangkok airport.

Before loading my luggage I use the mantra  "Chai meter mai ? ". If the driver refuses. I just say thank you and take another number at the ticket machine and try with another taxi and so on. They end up in understanding that the game is up.

Same here. After the third ticket they stopped me taking any more. So, in the end, the mafia taxi drivers ended up laughing because they had the monopoly on vehicular transport. Wonder, though, what happens to those taxis whose numbers were discarded by me, but the machine issues sequential numbers, so are they still in the running for a customer?

Foreign media should report in their homelands that Thailand can be very unsafe for foreigners. But on the other hand, many farangs can be arrogant and rude not only with the locals, but with other foreigners as well. Just read some comments here to get an idea on how uncouth some people are.

That's true, they can be very rude but Taxi drivers with weapons!!

I must be just lucky.

Never had one taxi driver who didn't use the meter at Arrivals, BKK.

That's over 20 years.

And I usually give them a good tip when I arrive safely at my house....although they don't know that and  seem not to expect it, when we start the journey.
