Asean Now is supposed to be a forum where members can discuss issues, and help each other out with problems. This thread brings it down to the level of Farcebook, where most of the photos are of meals

At least try to sell it to us 😝

Doesn't look appetising. Hopefully you can convince us that it is.

If you weren't trolling, I'd almost feel sorry for you. Mommy never made you pancakes 😭

As I don't know anyone, that would need convincing, that pancakes w/ honey, whipped cream & blueberries, is damn tasty. Even I can't screw that up.

Unless a Muslim, how is bacon never tasty ? In your defense, I did use 'waffle mix', so yes, they are terrible looking waffles.

Shouldn't you be commenting on the 90% of the other threads, about Donald, at least your thoughts could be debatable, instead of looking, well ... like a troll.

It's quite sad how you label your poor reaction to any perceived criticism as trolling. I would say that you are one of the top users of that term. Curious, eh? Think about that for a moment or two.

Reread your first sentence. That's a nasty and childish 'retort' isn't it? You need to label my critique as 'trolling' in order to justify your behaviour.

Getting back to the food pic. Yes, my mum makes proper pancakes. My girlfriend, blinis(cream cheese and raisins a particular favourite).

But after the little petulant outburst, at least you got around to adding the description of pancakes w/ honey, whipped cream & blueberries. That part is fine, though the whipped cream doesn't seem of good quality.

Then you added the weird comment about being Muslim.

The bacon there seems completely inappropriate and doesn't look at all appetising. That's my opinion. I didn't post a 'thumbs down', I wrote an honest opinion.

I'm concerned about your obsession with Donald. Do you take it as a personal affront when anyone criticises him? You do know that's weird, don't you? I guess we know why you isolate yourself from people. A bit too thin skinned perhaps?

You ARE a troll IMHO, one of the most active, and now regret replying to you.

Whipped cream was homemade & delicious; heavy cream, vanilla, powdered sugar. (on topic)

Have no obsession with Donald, and unless trolling the PC thread, with a comical YT short, ignore most posts about him, as impossible to have a discussion with deranged, mentally ill people.

Muslim comment, self explanatory, as the only people (except vegans) that don't enjoy bacon. Their loss, and unless you overcook it, hard to screw that up also.

I don't isolate myself from people, I just don't find the need to be overly social, with strangers.

If reply didn't answer satisfactory, feel free to pm me. As off topic already.

You have a pleasant day.

So you think that I sought your post out in order to troll you? Are you really so conceited that you imagine that I would do such a thing? What a sad indictment of yourself.

One of my interests is good food. I very rarely see anything of the sort here. The only person who posted anything that looked edible on a consistent basis, was @ExpatOilWorker

The rest, mostly average home cooking, including your efforts. Nothing of high quality. That's my opinion.

I guess calling me a troll helps you to feel better about yourself.

And you have the audacity to slag people off for home cooking.

I've never seen anything you cook/make at home nor any good food you have produced.

What are you having for dinner is that exactly.

Waiting with baited breath for your dinner tonight!

I’d like to start a topic on food.

this thread is where people can post pictures of their dinner,

what they have had or about to have.

or any meal for that matter, can be breakfast or lunch as well.

You must be effing joking. Who do you think wants to look at a photo of someone's (your) meals.

Most complaints about Social Media, especially Farcebook, is the number of such photos. Babies after that.

What disgusting looking bacon. Think I'll convert to Muslim or Jewish.

That is what happens if one spends only 10K per month on food for 2 adults.

Now put your finger under each word and read it out loud to yourself.

I did that, but got no answer from YOU. But thanks for the advice. Is that how you get to understand other posts by following with your finger.

Do you really like to look at photos of other peoples meals, drinks, pets, kids, etc?

Actually, I think we're up to about 15k a month. Which considering we eat in most of the time, and whole foods vs prepackaged, that actually expensive, 500 baht a day on average. Without seafood & beef, chicken & pork comes in at ~80 / kg & ~200 / kg.

We surely don't eat a kg per meal. Eggs, 30 XL (#0) ~150 baht, and 2 for brekkie, so a 60 - 100 baht meal X 2, leaves 300 for dinner. Half kg of protein & some veggies, doesn't add up to much.

Do a bit of shrimp, tuna and Salmon, ~700 / 800gr. Even had Lobster Tails last week or so. Don't miss out on anything we want.

We could spend 30k a month on food, but don't see the need to. Actually hard to dining out locally. Had a nice meal the other day out, 2 plates of food, surfside venue, and all of 120 baht for me, including water. Don't drink alcohol.

Thanks for asking. I'm only now getting around to having dinner. Starting with avocado with a Japanese style sesame dressing and a kimchi garnish.

Follow by a ramen with slow cooked pork, cauliflower mushrooms , carrot, noodles(and a boiled egg of course) in a spicy Tonkotsu broth.

Pudding/dessert is usually fruit.

Nothing wrong with keeping to a budget. You won't ever see me criticising someone for not being rich.

It's not about money for me, but simply a discussion about food. No malice, just honesty.

I buy a lot of discounted stuff, as I like the thought of creating something tasty out of something that may otherwise be wasted.

For example. two large yellow peppers at the market for 20 baht. Just bought some bacon, 500 grams, discounted from 309 baht to 108 baht.

But I don't buy cheap stuff. I buy good quality stuff, cheaply. For example, Vejpong Natural Honey is currently half priced at certain outlets. 565 gram/700ml bottle, just 120 baht.

Take the rough with the smooth in your stride. Stop with the troll nonsense. It just makes you look particularly thin skinned.

We don't keep to a budget, as actually don't have one. That just happens to be about what we spend a month on food. Mostly home cooking from scratch, so hard to really spend much vs processed packaged foods.

On a non 0 for retirement, don't use agent, so 65k required every month, and we live on about 30-40k, closer to 30, so no need to stick to any budget. Actually save more than we spend monthly.

I didn't ask if you needed to stick to a budget 😊 Nor did I need to know anything about your financials. As I said, it's about the food. I only mentioned a budget as I want to make it clear that my comments aren't anything to do with spending a lot of money. I love making tasty dishes out of cheap cuts of meat. If I critique something, it isn't personal to you. It's about what I see and how you've presented it.

I'd much rather we laugh about it. But your immediate reaction is to take offence and to bring Donald into the conversation. Which, admittedly, is quite funny in it's own right. Learn to laugh at yourself. It's okay. Nothing bad happens. In fact, it's good.

Why?

Because I could, and that is what most Farsebook photos are of.
