It would have pros and cons. It could also reduce the heat on a thread when people have said things they might like to delete. I think the pros would win. Better for someone to say "never said that" than end up defending himself if baited. Perhaps a longer edit window would be a good compromise.

Thats what the report function is for and a Mod can edit where and when requested if appropriate, and depending on the effect it has on all the following posts and topic overall, which would then also need editing or removing by the Moderator. If that topic is multiple pages, that potentially could be a nightmare and very time consuming to say the least as every entry would need to be read and assessed A few on one page, not so much.

Only one. And I was banned many times.  I thought if they don't want me then they don't want me. Their problem, not my problem. I wonder how many users were banned (for a week or whatever) a

This is about USER NAMES not gender.

  • Just the one. I'm happy with the gender I was given at birth.🤔

I didn't know it's possible to change usernames. I don't much like mine. I guess it's getting on for 20 years ago when I signed up. I had been lurking for a while and then saw a rumour that George was thinking of charging for new subscribers, so I thought "must do it quick".  When the username panel came up my mind went totally blank, and all I could think of was a password which I then used on one of the several databases I had to access at work - and stuck with it ever since.

Yes, usernames can be changed on request to "Support" with a valid reason, but not repeatedly.

Can I sell my username?

I have only had one. That's more than enough.

My wife got banned for starting her own account on the same computer we share, but she couldn't care less.

Obviously some brainwave thought it was the same person.

Only the one, but there is a certain member on the forum that is buddies with moderators and as such have been sent on many a holiday !

Just one.  Have never had any interest in trolling or arguing over the internet so one has been enough.

Hmmm, don't forget Mods can see this forum too 🙂

Admitting to multiple user names may not be er, "wise" :whistling:

Only ever had the one.

Don't really see the point in creating new ones, unless of course your were permanently banned and still wanted to participate in the 'fun'

It's not the real world, no one dies here.

But sometimes, there are some that get so deep that they sorta forget that all this nonsense isn't real, it's words on a screen.

That's when it gets a little murky and folks lose sight of the real world and obsess about perceived slight they have received to a comment or thread.

We're 'almost' all old farts here, we're supposed to know better.

I worry about the youngsters who obsess about their online presence. Thankfully I grew up as a teenager in the age of rotary dial phones, and mail involved having to take pen to paper
