Jaw problem

Featured Replies

For the past 5 weeks I have had a right side Jaw problem, at first it was very painful, Hospital told me to take Anti-Inflamatory tablets, I did this and after 1 day the pain went, the problem has not gone though, it cracks whenever I open and close my mouth, it just does not feel right at all, I have full movement but something is wrong, Hospital recomended an MRI if it didn't improve, is this the correct way to go about finding what is wrong?

My Teeth feel numb sometimes.

What type of doctor did you consult?  Sounds like temporomandibular joint issue which is best treated by a dentist (oral surgeon)

Have Xrays been done?

These issues often go away on their own with time. Sometimes a night guard helps.

I saw the Specialist at Phuket Bankok Hospital, no exrays have been taken, I went to the Dentist who said what you have said but said if it gets worse to go back to Hospital.

this needs an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon at the Hospital Dental Center.

It does not sound like it is getting worse if the pain stopped with anti-inflammatory.

If it were me I would just continue the anti-inflammatories for a while and wait and see before proceeding to more expensive tests. Being sure to avoid chewing anything very hard.

This sort of problem often resolves on its own.

Was it you who had an unidentified pain in your stomach area for ages? Did you get it resolved?

No it has not been resolved, the pain has virtually gone, still feels a little bit uncomfortable but it's no where near as bad as it was, don't think the Hospitals had any idea what was wrong, the Hospital diagnosed me with Gastritis that was on me telling them that I had  burning pain in my Abdomin, 99.9% no pain any more.
