Not a problem just keep looking if landlord won't accept 2+1

Indeed, it is perfect though for the price. I suspect I'd never see that 6 months again.

Found a condo in Bangkok which is perfect but the Landlord is asking for 6 months deposit.

He's not going to get it. Is this legal

I think the owner with this kind of ask is never going to rent out his condo.

Was it a high value luxury place?

I believe that depends on how many properties he's renting out? Isn't the law something along the lines of "if you have more than 5 properties for rent you can't ask for more than 1 month's deposit"?

I could be getting that mixed up with something else, though. Hopefully somebody else with better knowledge will confirm/correct me.

If you like it that much, see if he'll go for 6 months rent up front, with normal 2 mths deposit.

Sensible.

Illegal for any businesses or landlord that leases (or subleases) five or more property units to individual lessees. Property is defined to include any kind of residential accommodation, including apartments, condos, flats, or houses. Dormitories, guesthouses, hostels, and hotels are regulated under separate statutes.
