Helpful kitchen tips!!

This is not cooking but it is a kitchen tip.

Everything that is not too wet , I Vacuum seal, with my Foodsaver.

Use a bag one third longer than you need, and seal it all the way to the top.

Then when you need some , cut the top , take out what you need and re-seal a bit lower.

The hotdogs in The picture below , has been opened , and re-sealed so many times , I am getting to the end of the bag,

But the hotdogs are as fresh as the day I bought them.

No description available.

Nice banana ice cream / thick milkshake. 2 ripe falang bananas and one 300ml soy milk in a blender, no need for more sugar

I use bananas, Greek yoghurt and a little honey. But then I put it in the freezer for a bit.
Doesn’t your soy milk already have sugar added? I try to avoid refined sugar.

Boil up broccoli, cabbage, beans and cauliflower for 10 minutes. Drain, and put in a blender. Add diced cheese, and sai ua ( Northern Thai herbal sausage )

Blend until smooth, adding hot water to achieve the right consistency.

It's a tasty soup. similar to a mulligatawny or Dutch curry. Guaranteed not to add to the waistline.

After chopping chili peppers, if you need to urinate Use the tongs   and not your hands.

errr, a friend told me.

Better than having to discard a pair of tongs each time.
Your friend would discard them afterwards, wouldn’t he? 😊

Hand on heart.....67.....and never cooked a single thing in my life.....my best tip...stay out of the kitchen

Only if you cant stand the heat .

Its a mater of deference , and what you enjoy.

For 30 years , I got up 5am  to go to the office, have  a meeting and to the job site by 7:30 am . we were a Union shop and worked 7:30- -3:30. by the time I got out of the job and commuted home it was 5:30 pm.  So like you other than playing around over the weekend , I never cooked anything.

Now I have been retired for close to 5 years , and it's a different story.

So don't despair. There is still hope for you:smile:

Why so? Just like his underwear, he turn them inside out and use them again.

My soy milk is 2% sugar, but I'm not sugar phobic, I freely add sugar if something isn't sweet enough. My frozen berries smoothie needs sugar

I’m not sugar phobic either.
Honey 🍯 remember? I probably use more than most. I just don’t use refined white sugar.
For a Berry shake, I add bananas for sweetness. No sugar nor honey. Balances it for me.

It's part of a diet I used to lose 15 kg.

I stopped mixing bananas with berries as the bananas can negate the flavanols

That's very good going  I recently lost around 12 kg over the space of a year (slowly, but hopefully it will stay off). I have started eating more "salad meals" as I call them. Not talking about  just having a salad. If I fancy something like fish and chips, I'll make a big bowl of salad and have a small fillet of fish (still "traditional" battered fish) with maybe 10 or so oven chips and put it all on top of the salad. Still get the enjoyment of the fish and chips but at a fraction of the calories. I've tried many things you wouldn't normally put on a salad but they've all gone down quite well.

I eat such a ridiculous amount of grapes, that it probably doesn’t matter. Though to be fair, when I stated that I add bananas to my berry smoothies, it’s not actually me who does it; but the smoothie makers at Pier 21 😊 But following on from your information, if I make them myself, I’ll use Greek yoghurt(I don’t like low fat yoghurt) and a little honey.

Berries are low carb, bananas are about the highest carb one can get in fruit. It's why I haven't eaten one for 2 years.

Grapes are very high in sugar BTW, not a problem for me but those who want to minimise sugar probably shouldn't eat too many. Frozen berries from Makro definitely need sugar/honey, I avoid the high fructose syrup which is what the little shops usually use

I don’t want to minimise sugar(fructose)😊 I  want to avoid refined white sugar…

Yes, I'm high carb low fat so eat lots of bananas, some days when cycling 9 Thai ones and 2 falang ones

I used to do a lot of long distance cycling. I got used to eating foods that sustained my energy. Refined sugars might give you an initial boost, but I would quickly feel empty and depleted afterwards. So I generally avoid that kind of thing.

An easy lunch snack:

Two slices of whole wheat bread, fresh or toasted if a bit old.

Butter one slice with Branston small chunk pickle.

Add three or four slices of My Choice German style rosemary ham.

Top off with a couple of slices of Mainland Vintage cheese.

Second slice of bread goes on top, press down to consolidate. I call it the ploughman's lunch.

Enjoy.

It's OK if you are burning the carbs, not so good if one is my age.

My peak cycling days I would sim to consume 10,000 kilocalories daily just to keep my weight stable.

Frustose isn't the problem it's high frustose syrup, hidden in people's drinks. This is one link I found, couldn't find my original one

So TOPS for the ham. Villa for the Branson. Friendship for the bread and cheese. Anyone would be starving after all that 😊

Yes, I avoid anything like that. No sugar at all allowed in drinks made for me in Thailand. Though sometimes they just can’t do it ☺️ It’s like it causes them pain to not at least put a little in ☺️
