Most exciting thing you've done in Thailand

A bit hard that one, as what one person finds exciting another may not.

 

I suppose it was the sheer wonderment and attack on the senses the first time I sat at a bar in Soi Nans, on the corner of the Nana Hotel (hooters now?)and just watched what was going on.

Never seen or experienced anything quite like it.Not being a drinker or frequenting bars as such, never been to Thailand before, this was way back in 2003. My entire 2 week stay was unbelievable and exciting to me, and why I came back so many times and eventually moved here.

 

That one trip and experience changed the entire course of my life. 😀

Rescued a few people on a dive boat during a storm off Koh Tao, that was exciting

1. stayed at a 1000 baht per night hotel

 

2. ate a 100 baht curry

 

3. spoke to a farang

 

4. visited a popular area with thousands of tourists

 

the excitement darn near killed me, will have to retreat to the boonies to recover.

Plenty of exciting things but the question was the most exciting so I uess that would have to be meeting my wife for the first time, not that the intervening years have been unexciting.

Best thing I did ... sold 1st house & land, w/POA

... quit paying taxes

... quit dependence on petrol fuel

... quit dependence on grid

... getting all my tax dollars back via Soc Sec for past 23 yrs

... and being a blight on society   And I'm only 69 yrs old, (next month)

That part was easy for me, and just another day, but a different location.   Never really settled anywhere, and moved (followed the money) more than a few times.  

 

Best, most exciting thing, is actually living a life, not prepping for retirement.  Actually living in a house I like, and not an investment, temp living to be rented out later, when moving on to the next project.

 

A long term relationship, a daughter, new cars, instead of hold me over POS, (some nice & fun...but), along with stress free and not thinking about the future. 

 

All pretty exciting and brings a big A$$ smile to my face when thinking about it.  Wasn't one to work overseas, so as you say, leaving that comfort zone or 45 years, and actually enjoying living in a country, tropical surfside to top it off on the other side of the planet, is pretty cool.

 

Made easier without any real ties to the old life, or leaving people behind.

Yes I did. Shot 77 as well. One of my mates was a pro golfer. He led a major one year.
