What other interests do you have as you get older?

So this forum was down a week so many of you looked /listened/ read / watched other stuff 

 

As you get older I know some of you lose interest in things eg gym , martial arts etc and take interest in things you never thought,eg current affairs,politics etc.

 

My question to you is what do you look at every day or at least a few times a week?

Does Tiktok interest you in your age ,do you watch it everyday

 

What about listening to the BBC /ABC?

Do you watch the Thailand or Philippines expat YouTubers everyday or a few times a week?

 

Exactly apart from this forum what do you like,what about Instagram?

 

What has sparked your interest nowadays, current affairs? Books online ? Fitness ? 

 

Is this healthy for your life to be in these social media hours a day ?

Listening to podcasts etc ???

 

Shouldnt you be out there enjoying life instead of being on Facebook, Instagram tiktok YouTube etc ?

Don't listen to radio, or even of TV/cable service (do torrents),  Don't do or look at IG, tik tok, X, or any other.   Been watching FB Reels lately, but think I've seen most relative, as seem to be repeating themselves.   Read on other local forum, and that usual takes less the 3 minutes, if that.

 

Watch a bit of YT, usually for my hobbies, drones (days past), photography (can't gain anything new now).  Just bought an air fryer, so been peeking at those.   Some cooking YTs, I follow, and actually make some recipes, but few.   More technique learning.

 

Stay current with news, but not MSM, and even that with large grain of salt.  Rely more on my past education & knowledge, as they really are trying to rewrite everything. 

 

Main thing, and hasn't changed in over 50 yrs, is simply driving around, exploring.   Did all the thrill seeking, trying to kill myself thingys, when I use to bounce a lot better, and thankfully failed miserably.   Damn fun though....and still alive.

 

Back to weekly exploring, coffee shops/food, viewpoints & nature/photography (usually from the car ) or with drone, rare of late.   Daily, me & dog, at the park or surfside, when cooperating.

Japanese porn, or JAV for short. Now that we can get uncensored JAV, it has become an obsession with me. 

I have a huge (>3TB) porn collected over many years, both pics and movies. I'm still fond of late 80's and 90's French and Italian movies, but the JAV takes priority and I expand my JAV collection by couple of MB/GB almost every day....

 

Good thing is, keeps me off the streets and out of trouble.

I don't do Fecesbook, Instagram, TikTok of other of this <deleted> social media. Communicate with my family and friends through other media.

News outlets are available through other means too. You know that we (Boomers) originally developed the internet tto share porn and free programs.

All this social media stuff is for Gen Z and their virtual reality lifestyle. They would probably date a Japanese Virtual Idoru if they could.

Some have mentioned Porn, I have never understood the attraction etc as its predictable , repetitive, you know literally what's going to happen and how it ends.

 

Never been interested except as kid when I hadn't yet had the real thing, but as an adult, just never appealed to me, later in life couldn't be bothered.

I do the gym in the AM, research of various stuff in the afternoon at the co-work space across the street (bond funds lately, Thai language private classes next). Then I read a bit of SEA cultural stuff, and order dinner in around six, 5 nights out of 7. 

 

A bit of Netflix (Squid Game meets minimum standards) after sushi/Pad Thai/Indian, then bed around ten. In between those bits, it's wife-time, meditation, maybe peak in here and Hotmail. I like Daily Beast, Slate, and NYMag for a news-graze.

 

Porn? I used to like Literotica, but it went all Femme Dom. I tried to imagine that it was a guy rodgering a girl instead, but it was too much work. And they kept dressing the guy up as a woman, which I just couldn't think myself around. Reading Gay porn works better for sex-reversing.

 

But at that point, I may as well just think something up myself. Or review my greatest sex hits, many of them even occurring within the last quarter of a century.

I know  many of my friends become interested in gardening as they get older. It passes time and is not overly strenuous plus you can get satisfaction by seeing the results from the time you spend.

I totally get this. I'm literally about to drop 12m baht on a house, but I'm also tossing that up against:

 

1.) Buying a huge plot of land up north (6000 sqm). The attractions of the city aren't the pull they used to be, but would still be an hour's flight away.

2.) Build a man cave approx 20m x 20m. Double height single ceiling, polished cement floor.

3.) Buying a CNC lathe and mill (metalwork).

4.) Buying a ~15 ton tracked excavator (cheaper than you might think).

5.) Tinker every day in my new man cave making metal things I don't really need. Dig big holes that pose a danger to life and then fill them back in.

 

I really am in 2 minds which way to go.

We met through sport and those interests have continued, cycling, kayaking and entering every available 5/10km fun run, had one 26 Nov, next one 9 Dec, have booked ahead through to February next year.

I cycle 800-1000km per month, my main activity away from home.

Built a small low-maintenance house in 2018 I don't need to play home handyman often, and no interest in being tied to looking after a 'farang palace'.

Sport is hereditary. Daughter represented her high school in volleyball, football and athletics this week, well done!
