Young motorcyclist injured in hit-and-run incident on Pattaya’s Beach Road

Pattaya witnessed an unfortunate hit-and-run incident in the early hours of yesterday, December 1, where a young motorcyclist was left injured due to a collision with a fruit side cart.

 

The incident took place on the bustling Beach Road, and the victim was identified as 20 year old Krawit Jandang.

 

The Pattaya police were alerted about the accident around 2am. They swiftly joined forces with the Sawang Boriboon rescue teams and rushed to the accident site. Upon arrival, they discovered an overturned Yamaha Grand Filano motorcycle with a Chonburi license plate lying in the middle of the road.

The young motorcyclist, Krawit, was found injured nearby, with a significant laceration on his right ankle. Quick to respond, the rescue teams administered initial medical care to Krawit at the scene before urgently transporting him to Banglamung Hospital for more comprehensive treatment.

Why do reporters always dress up the action with dramatic descriptions of how police "rushed to", "swiftly", "incredibly quickly", "mind blowingly fast" etc etc. Pattaya cop shop is just along Beach Rd. No need for drama! A mere saunter away.

It really is time the authorities became a lot more serious about the consequences for such reckless endangerment...

I agree, and it's also a pet peeve of mine. They use a ridiculous number of adjectives and adverbs. It's not reporting, but storytelling. The reader should decide how fast, well, and good tasks are performed, not the reporter. They wouldn't get a job writing for real newspapers.

These street vendor motorcycle sidecars full of food are a road hazard even when they don't pull out unexpectedly. Many of them are sporting vats full of boiling water and other loose cooking items and implements that can go flying. They often slow down unexpectedly when items in their carts are shaken loose by the wind and they need to secure them. Fortunately, most Thai people have a lot of patience with them and give them a wide berth.

Agreed...   They are involved in what appears to be an 'disproportionate amount of 'incidents'... 

 

Possibly because in a lot of cases their speed is so slow and other idiots just ride into them, but, also in many cases they are ridden in a 'no consequences' manner that the poor tend to display... think beaten up old pickup in the outside (right most lane) doing 40kmh on a highway 1km before the U-turn they want to take and causing all manner of mayhem.... 

...these vehicles are not insured or taxed... AND.. if I'm not mistaken, neither are they street legal (not that that matters much in Thailand).

The concept of  a glass box samlor fruit seller 'running' is also a stretch, when I get stuck behind them they seem to move at a walking pace.

It adds to the drama and reassures our cynics fearful of a slow response should the same or worse happen to them.

Very true. You can't make any trip around town with dodging them. Been a part of the scene forever, always will be. I know an expat who prided himself on his driving skills hit one of them with his Honda Steed. Broke his wrist, and that was bad enough.
