The comments are a revelation... I never knew Brits had this reputation in some places... Never been a whinger myself and know very very few who are.  But from a sample of those I know, they come from various nationalities - UK, France, Sweden, Greece, ..

I have been in a relationship with a Thai national for 27 years.

 

I am 30 years in this country, I also have a command of Spanish which it would take me three or four months to get acquainted with again having not used it for so long and schoolboy French as well as my native English.

 

So I suggest you check your facts before spouting on here.

I'm impressed. You're a very special smart guy.

However, I'm not speaking about you in particular and like what I read about you. It's about the original thread. You forgot it? Living here means the Center of your life is in Thailand. And consequently you're not a tourist or traveller. Apart from your personal circumstances you might agree with me in general. At least we're migrants, possibly immigrants.

I don't know one whinging pom who has financial capital in the bank, they all use agents and pay between 20k-25k baht a year so that the agent can put up the 800k baht in the bank when he does their extensions for them, most are on pensions, barley making it month by month because their p-ss is more important to them than food.

 

Not having a go, just stating the fact from my experience of whinging poms that I know, and if the p-ss goes up 5 baht, blimey, we'll never here the end of it.
