I find polls meaningless at this point.

More so than ever before at this early stage.

Why?

It's true most democrats would prefer a younger candidate than Biden but that doesn't in any way mean they will vote for Trump when it is Biden.

Yes, the mostly likely contest now by far for better or worse probably worse is Trump vs. Biden.

But there are huge contingencies.

Trump will probably be convicted of a felony before the election. He may even be in prison.

A president that can't even vote?

Unacceptable even to a large percentage of republicans.

Either one may have a health crisis or worse before the election changing everything.

Again, polls now in this race are meaningless.

You are correct. However, there is a difference in the way that politicians lie.

 

The Dems are usually lawyers, and lawyers cannot lie in court, instead, they lie by omission - what they say is factually true, but they leave out contradictory information. Classic prosecutor technique.

 

Trump started off with gaslighting, telling crazy lies, but then he adopted the Goebbels technique of repeating the same lie over and over.

Polls have already turned around. It's now Biden 49% and the traitor 46%.

 

After a couple of convictions, and as trump loses it more and more and his obvious insanity is even evident to most trumpers, it's only going to get worse for the fat guy.

 

If there are any areas of the US still suffering from drought, perhaps cult members could move there in droves, as their maga tears would halt the drought conditions.

One third of Iowa Republican voters said that if trump is convicted, he would be unqualified to be President and they would not vote for him.

If he loses a third of the 40% who register as Republicans, he has zero chance of winning.

 

When the convention comes, Republicans would be wise to dump trump. He will not win, and he will also hurt down ballot candidates, as he did in 2018, 2020 and 2022.

Of course this time trump cannot bark about his "great infrastructure plan, which we'll announce during Infrastructure Weak (sic)". trump's Infrastructure Week never came, and Biden got a bipartisan infrastructure Bill passed already.

 

Admittedly trump will likely retain the Incel vote, the QAnons, the fascists, White Supremacists, those on Social Security Disability Insurance, the poorly educated, the willfully ignorant, and society's losers and forlorn, but that won't be enough to win.
