Pattaya — Hotel bookings in Pattaya are booming as the city gears up for New Year’s celebrations. Beachfront properties have already been 85-90% booked, according to the Thai Hotel Association’s Eastern Chapter (THA).

The surge is largely attributed to the “MONO29 Pattaya Countdown 2024” event, which is scheduled to take place from tomorrow, December 29th to December 31st, Mr. Sanphet Supabawornsathien, president of the eastern THA said.

Hotel occupancy rates in Pattaya City have already exceeded 85-90% from December 29th, 2023, to January 1st, 2024. The beachfront area fronting Pattaya Beach, the event venue, is verging on capacity, a testament to the event’s popularity.

I went one year and the crowds were so bad I was surprised someone did not topple into the sea at Bali Hai, there were a few brawls too. Yes, something to be avoided for us old farts.

Agreed.. [just a little less of the old]

Spouse and I used to love living at Northshore when events like this and the International Fireworks Festival rolled around.  No parking/crowd hassles and we'd ride the elevator down to the 6th floor and watch the fireworks from the pool lounge chairs.

Always noticeable how few comments there are from the usual peanut gallery when Pattaya's popularity for mainstream events outside of the nightlife scene is confirmed, attracting 10's of thousands. All the 5 star hotels full of wealthier people who have the choice to go anywhere but do in fact choose Pattaya for their festive vacation.

Arrive and stay at one place for 2-3 days and walk to mall/beach - great.

Drive there and park in standard hotel and then get around for 2-3 days - not great.

Maybe next year.
