Best deals for pre-paid sims for data.

Recommended Posts

In past years I bought DTAC pre-paid sims with unlimited data for 12 months, I've looked online and it seems they have increased a lot in price now, does anyone know of any good deals, good value pre-paid sims? Not really concerned about phone credits, just the data.

Go to some of the phone vendor shops, often a 200฿ per month deal can be found. My wife just picked up a sim a couple months ago at ais buddy, unlimited, for 200฿. I’m on one ais five years now @200฿ a month 200gb, then throttled thereafter. The deals come and go and often not available online.

I need 12 months as I travel out often, so I want to be online the second I return to Thailand. But I will ask in some shops soon, generally though they are more expensive than ordering online with Lazada.

A couple of people have mentioned being offered Unlimited 30 Mbps for 250 baht with DTAC and seem to be of the opinion that everyone will be offered the same.
If you have a Thai partner then look at GoMo. They have Unlimited 10Mbps for 149 baht(+VAT?)

Other than that, if your phone can cover the prerequisite frequency and coverage is acceptable to you, the cheapest Unlimited option is with My by NT: Unlimited 10 Mbps @ 1350 baht for 12 months and Unlimited 30 Mbps for 200 baht per month are two possible options.
Since you mentioned you want a 12 month pack, then that’s the best for unlimited.
AFAIK, they are on Band 1 & Band 28 LTE

2600MHz for 5G(n7?)

If you don’t need unlimited, there are more mainstream choices.

If you don’t mind paying full whack, then by directly from My by NT official, as they also have Unlimited 30 Mbps for 1890 baht.
But make sure your phone covers B28.

https://www.lazada.co.th/products/ntp01-my-by-nt-30mbps-60-nt-i4888119063-s20568929092.html

You get 372 days of validity.

Otherwise you can pick up the Unlimited 10Mbps product for between 1350 and 1450 from independent vendors on Shopee and Lazada.

You can get a pre paid sim, say 200฿ per month and can top up in 200฿ increments up to 12 months. Each time you add 200฿ it adds another month. Example, 9 months remaining, then top up 200฿ x3.

The prices of these 1 year unlimited sims in the last few weeks have increased dramatically.

A few weeks ago true sim thor was 2290 now 2890 baht.

Same dtac has increased prices as well for their 15 and 30 Mbps.

Maybe the increase is to pay for the merger between dtac and true.

Yes, that's why I'm asking here. Last year my 12 month unlimited data 30 mbps DTAC sim cost around 1600Bt, I just looked yesterday and it's now 2890 Bt. So I thought I'd ask around and see if anyone else knew a better deal. I always buy 2, one for me and one for my wife, so if I can save a couple thousand baht it'll be good.

I don't know anything about My by NT, we live out in the rice fields of Korat, my DTAC and my wife's AIS work very well out here. Would My by NT be the same coverage? I did check and as far as I can tell my Redmi Note 10 smartphone and my wife's Redmi Note 7 are OK with B28.

I bought one in Dec 2023, the True thor, it was 2290 but I got it for 1690 on one of those lazada 12.12 sales.

If you can wait, maybe try in Feb 2024 at the 2.2 sale on lazada or shoppee, you may be able to pick up at a discount.

I figured out immediately that it was nonsense.
Why would they not, if 12 months validity was the ultimate criteria, simply top up 11 x 20 baht ‘straight off the bat’?

The only way you will know if it works for you, is to obtain a SIM and to test it.
https://www.lazada.co.th/products/no1-my5g-30mbps-25030-12-i4889381291-s21251439863.html

https://www.mybynt.com/en/PrePay.php?package=308_my-5G-แบบเติมเงิน

The Unlimited 10Mbps 12 Month package for 1450 baht mentioned earlier, is actually by NT Mobile, rather than My by NT , but also utilises the 700 MHz band.

NT Mobile(TOT). My by NT(CAT).

The Unlimited 10Mbps package for 1350 baht is from My by NT: https://shopee.co.th/ซิมเทพ-my-by-NT-ซิมเน็ตเกินร้อย-10Mbps-ไม่อั้น-ไม่ลดสปีด-นาน-1-ปี-โทรฟรีทุกค่าย-60-นาที-เดือน-สัญญาณโรมมิ่งทุกคลื่น*-i.330732583.24805705284

Confusing? 😊

So to test NT Mobile beforehand, you would also need to obtain a normal SIM to test before springing for an annual pack.

Alternatively, since you have a Thai partner, you can consider https://gomo.th/package

as it uses the AIS network. You buy a 12 month validity SIM for 99 baht and then apply the Unlimited 10 Mbps pack for 149 baht + VAT monthly

Another thing to consider is whether you actually need Unlimited. How much do you use on average? Would 100GB monthly suffice?

Yes good point about 100GB a month, I've been thinking the same thing. I download a lot of music every day, plus I was hotspotting my smart TV to my phone, so I was using well over 100gb a month, but we have 3BB now and I'm sure 100gb a month for my phone will be adequate.

If 100GB monthly is adequate, you can avail yourself of a mainstream DTAC package.
https://www.dtac.co.th/en/prepaid/products/ready-sim.html 1790 baht

eSIM or normal SIM. 100 GB up to 15 Mbps, unlimited DTAC calls. 60 minutes of ANY network calls.

Otherwise their cheapest Unlimited package costs 2390 baht. Unlimited data at 8Mbps with unlimited ANY network calls. https://www.lazada.co.th/products/dtac-8mbps-wpn-mobile-i2891711850-s10564661820.html

You can save A LITTLE by buying the DTAC SIMs from a independent distributor.

Example: https://shopee.co.th/product/33507304/24707111188 1649 baht for the 15 Mbps 100GB that’s 1790 via DTAC. But of course there’s also postage.

There is also a 100GB Max Speed version with unlimited ANY network calls: https://shopee.co.th/product/33507304/17663505378 for 2000 baht

Yes, I’ve linked to that one already. But that is not the current price. The seller in your pic charges 2090 baht.

But I’ve already linked you to one at that price anyway

OK thanks a lot, you've been very helpful. I'll need 2 so I reckon I'll go ahead and order these, 100gb a month each will be sufficient, and 100mbps speed beats those other sims @ 15 or 30 mbps.

It doesn’t mean that you’ll achieve 100 Mbps. It just means that if higher speeds are available at your location, then you won’t be throttled at the lower speeds. So don’t buy them in the hope of getting anything close to 100Mbps.
But at least you’ll have unlimited any network calls of up to 15 minutes per call.

I had this for 2-3 years but was abroad for too long and expiration finally hit.

The best part is that as long as you have expiration available, and less than 200b in the account, it won't debit it.  So you pretty much pay as you go.

Unfortunately like I said, mine expired.

Anyone know where I can get the 200b unlimited AIS card?  Is AIS Buddy a particular store?  Is there one in Pattaya?
