Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister, Anutin Charnvirakul, is set to enforce stricter regulations on night entertainment venues following an early morning raid on a nightclub in Pathum Thani on January 7, which resulted in the apprehension of 489 minors.

The venue, known as Heaven Rangsit, is alleged to have been operating without the necessary license and accommodating underage patrons. The police also discovered secret exits at the venue, reportedly used by minors to escape when authorities arrived.

Anutin issued a stern warning on January 8, asserting that all relevant bodies would ramp up their surveillance efforts to ensure that night entertainment venues comply with legal mandates. He announced that the Heaven Rangsit operator would face multiple charges, while individuals below the age of 16 would not face legal actions. However, their parents will be summoned for questioning regarding potential violations of child protection laws, reported The Pattaya News.

This recent raid at Heaven Rangsit is part of a wider initiative targeting nightclubs across Thailand. One such venue faced closure in December due to numerous violations, including non-compliance with regulations and serving alcohol to minors.

The Department of Provincial Administration (DPA), under the Ministry of the Interior, is responsible for the licensing and regulation of night entertainment venues across Thailand. The DPA voiced its commitment to working in tandem with the police force to tackle illegal activities in these establishments.

The original article said there were about 1000 people in the venue, half of whom managed to leg it with the help of staff. So good for more than a few. And I guess a good test run for an emergency evacuation. A 5 year closure is scheduled now.

There's an MFP MP awaiting the verdict on her appeal against a 6 year jail sentence for challenging the government's, ie Anutin's, handling of the jab sourcing and availability early on in the COVID catastrophe. How he dares show his frying pan face in public God only knows. Wretched man.

ban alcohol nation wide. death penalty for 1st offence.

Why don't they do the same as the alcohol selling between 11 and 2 and 5 and 11, blame EVERYONE for the actions of a few and CLOSE ALL NIGHT CLUBS. That will stop the underage drinking.

the apprehension of 489 minors.

This is a minor scandal and all because the brown envelope was late this month.  All new laws are ignored unless they benefit the BIB.

Did Anutin or any other MP consider that the problem might be the corrupt police?

And did they think about that shifting officers to an inactive post for a month is not good enough?

Expose the corrupt police.

Fire them.

Prosecute them.

Convict them that they have to pay all the money back which they received as bribes.

And convict them to jail (without VIP treatment).

It's not really that difficult to find solutions - if our politicians would want to find solutions.

Talk is cheap. And useless.

Amusing comment🥳. His efforts to protect minors are honorable. But it seems to me a main face of Thai politicians to stage an outcry promising what they will do and then fall back into lethargy of daily business mingling life.

Well, if I look into western countries....very similar procedure. Obviously a special politician gene.🙏

Part of the problem is that there's really no where for young people to go.  Maybe opening a few clubs with music and no booze is an answer

They have all the laws they need, just the people not enforcing it from top down. It’s a no brainer, money talks. Increase fines and prison sentences.

This is a ongoing problem in Thailand with the clubs not doing what they should be according to the law

Easier to give back handers 🤑 to the ones in charge ie the Police 🚔

This problem will never go away to much corruption 🙄

The district/sub-district police (RTP) know about every single club, gambling den, and underage sex club within their jurisdiction. Heck, they are "inspecting" these facilities daily/weekly for "collections".

This is why it is the MoI/DOPA is raiding these establishments.

Eventually, DOPA will be corrupted, if they haven't already.
