And if he declares bankruptcy she will get nothing, pity!

Can a bankrupt run for President?

If ever proof was needed that the US "justice system" is a very bad joke, this is it. If it was anyone but Trump would the penalty be as large?

  • Did you hear that?  That was the sound of Trump support going up yet again.  Because the American voters recognize this for what it is.  Except, of course, those with TDS.

Yes.

The U.S. Constitution states that the president must:
Be a natural-born citizen of the United States.
Be at least 35 years old.
Have been a resident of the United States for 14 years.

And I look at it from a different perspective.  A broke 80 yo woman, her Studio 54 days are distant memories is on her last leg to get rich the only, repeat only way she can.

It’s the world we live in.

The world you describe seems to be based solely on your assumptions, which may not align with the facts.

From my viewpoint, the jury’s decision to award $83 million in damages suggests a different reality.

This decision was made in a court of law by a jury of Trump’s peers.

They evaluated the evidence presented to them and made a judgment based on those facts.

I understand that it might be difficult for you to accept that Trump has been brought to his knees and held accountable for his false rhetoric by ‘a broke 80 yo woman on her last leg (sic)’.

However, I’m confident that with time, you will come to terms with the verdict.

Why does a Billionaire need to beg money off his supporters, many of whom are living on low incomes?

Bankruptcy:  completely legal.

Who would recommend as his lawyer?  Being the fountain of knowledge you are.

Exactly which lawyer was stiffed?  I’m all ears.

Bankruptcy: completely legal.

That may be, but if by doing so you stiff (tens of) thousands of small contractors out of millions of dollars, it becomes morally quite iffy in my books. Just because something is legal doesn’t mean it’s morally okay. Billionaires hire the best accountants to hide their money so they pay hardly any or even no taxes at all. Perfectly legal, but morally/ethically completely reprehensible.

Who would I recommend as his lawyer? How would I know, I’m no expert. But Trump now hires the kind of lawyers who forget to check the ‘jury trial’ box (after which he kept whining that he was denied a jury trial), or who get bench-slapped by a judge 14 times in a single day because she doesn’t have a clue how to conduct herself in a courtroom (https://www.businessinsider.com/e-jean-carroll-judge-bench-slaps-trump-attorney-alina-habba-2024-1). So I’m quite sure there are much better lawyers out there.

And as for which lawyer was stiffed: maybe you should ask Rudi Giuliani. This also makes for some interesting reading, by the way, regarding the way Trump ‘does business’:

Trump is reduced to employing neophytes because competent lawyers are avoiding him like leprosy. Why would anyone want to work for someone who doesn't pay up, won't listen to legal advice, always thinks he is the smartest person in the room, and wants people to fawn on him?

Apparently Joe Tacopina was his last effective lawyer. He is quite reticent as to why he left Trump, but he has quit on two of Trump's cases.

Lawyers don't like losing, it affects their future prospects. My guess is Tacopina saw the writing on the wall.

If it's so little to y, why does Trump routinely make a habit of stiffing people he owes far lower sums? Why did he misappropriate funds from a charity to pay for stuff that cosot what should be piddling amounts to him?

Seeing as how desperately he’s trying to fleece the rubes and get free money from them, I suspect he has less available cash than most self-proclaimed millionaires, much less billionaires. He’s always bragging about how vastly wealthy he is, so it’s a mystery to me why he’s constantly begging everybody and their uncle for money. An even bigger mystery to me is why millions of Americans actually donate their hard earned money to this grifter.

The majority of your post has nothing to do with this thread.

Morally iffy?  Pot calling the kettle black.

80 yo on last ditch effort to get rich quick using OPM and can’t remember details of the alleged rape.

“Perfectly legal, but morally/ethically completely reprehensible “.  Excellent description of this kangaroo court!

"Trump is only a rapist because a jury said so" is not a really good defense.

But they followed the law, as the judge admitted, whereas he couldn't just make up law, as he had wished. So it's better than "that judge said so." Moreover, Carroll herself says she wasn't raped.

"My word is not the victim word. I have not – I have not been raped," she continued. "I have – something has not been done to me. I fought. That’s the thing."

Your hero has 91 indictments underway. Two lost cases where he has been found guilty, financial penalty of $83 million in one, probably hundreds of millions for the other.

The Georgia case of election interference, and his cavalier attitude to national secrets.

That's a lot of kangaroos. I'm sure you can match them with the number of excuses.

Verdict coming in NY fraud case by Wednesday.

Anyone who just wants to look on Trump as a total buffoon should maybe consider that there is a whole network of well-financed arch-Conservatives who are lurking behind him and waiting if/when he is again elected POTUS:

The word you are looking for is Schadenfreude.

Especially delicious observing a man (I use the term in its loosest sense) getting some payback, given his history of who delighting in humiliating those afflicted by physical disability, refusing to see wounded warriors take part in military marches, denigrating prisoners of wars and generally delighting in cruelty to others.

I’m really looking forward to the next court ruling at the end of this month.

Stay tuned.

Schadenfreude is not the word I was looking for.

I was thinking more along the lines of selbstgefällig.

edit to add, your post here is about as clear an example of virtue signaling as there could possibly be, and i actually agree with the idea that Trump needs to be held accountable for many, many transgressions.

So let me get this right, when you gaze down at your moral compass you regard someone being disgusted by Trump delighting in humiliating those afflicted by physical disability, refusing to see wounded warriors take part in military marches, denigrating prisoners of wars and generally delighting in cruelty to others, to be ‘virtue signaling’.

Opinions differ.

Maybe we have different ideas about what constitutes common decency, it certainly seems that way.

My bet’s on Trump not being able to keep his trap shut and it’s going to be more than $86.3 million. Someone probably took his phone and computer away from him (or tied his hands behind his back), otherwise I suspect he would have already posted dozens of slanderous posts on Truth Social.
