Vladimir Putin begins Operation Blame Ukraine

In the aftermath of the tragic events at Crocus City Hall in Moscow, Vladimir Putin's response has ignited a flurry of speculation and scrutiny. Operation Blame Ukraine seems to be underway, with the Kremlin seizing upon the opportunity to deflect attention from its own shortcomings onto its neighbor to the west.

Questions abound regarding the inept security measures at the venue and the failure of local police to respond effectively.

 

 

While some have entertained conspiracy theories suggesting collusion within the Russian establishment, the more plausible explanation points to Islamist terrorist groups capitalizing on Russia's wartime distractions and ethnic tensions. The presence of up to 8 million migrants from Central Asia in Russia provides fertile ground for extremist infiltration, exacerbating ethnic tensions and creating vulnerabilities in the security apparatus.

 

In the wake of the attack, the Kremlin is likely to intensify its crackdown on dissent and press freedom, using the tragedy as a pretext to tighten its grip on power. Calls to reinstate the death penalty for terrorism and raids on migrant communities signal a troubling escalation of authoritarian measures.

 

Despite the propaganda value in blaming Ukraine, the Kremlin's response to the attack is unlikely to address its systemic security vulnerabilities. Instead, Putin may exploit the tragedy to justify further military action in Ukraine, leveraging Kremlin-linked media and social media manipulation to shape the narrative in its favor.

 

As the dust settles on the tragedy at Crocus City Hall, the true extent of Putin's machinations and the repercussions for Russia's domestic and foreign policies remain uncertain. However, one thing is clear: Operation Blame Ukraine is just the latest chapter in Putin's playbook of diversion and disinformation.

But, Putin coincidentally added LGBTQ+ to the list of extremist organisations on the same day as the Crocus attack.

 

Maybe if he wasn't terrorising this ' dangerous 'community he could have focused more on protecting his citizens from Isis.

Perhaps this community will also become another scapegoat for the Crocus attack beside Ukraine.

I would have thought if it's an Islamic terrorists attack, they would be happy to blow themselves up and die along with their targets and not try and escape back to whichever hole they came from.

Not always.  I watched what videos there were taken by cell phones during the assault - the attackers looked like they were big guys, total unlike those pictured as captured shooters.  If cornered, yeah, they

would rather blow themselves up before being captured.  This immediate capture and looking at those captured, surely looks like a staged event for Putin to try to garner some more public support for the Ukraine war which has wiped out a generation of young Russians.  My opinion only of course but I am not a fan of Putin nor of ISIS nor of any of the militant Muslims.

Isis claimed the attack, also posted video of it on one of ‘their’ social media outlets. Some (or all) of the attackers seem to be from Tadzjikistan, which seems to have become a hotbed for wannabe Islamic terrorists.

There is no connection whatsoever with Ukraine, no matter what Putin or his cronies claim.

Have read reports that the original target was the uber-nationalist singer Shaman and Putin fan who was playing at Crocus at the weekend the US warned about. With increased security they called it off and here we are.

I heard the four were apprehended after having driven 10 hours along route M3 which heads directly towards Ukraine - they were about 100 km from the Ukraine border when they were caught. Not sure where else they could have been heading? Turning off towards Belarus perhaps, but that makes less sense...
