My kingdom for a Liptons tea bag.

I guess if nothing else is available you may miss Liptons but personally I find their tea bags somewhat insipid.........

I think even the Makro own brand (if available) are probably better and as Trans posted lots of options online - all be it a little more expensive.

They are next to the Branston Pickle Oh there's none of that anywhere in Thailand either not even on-line.

Siamburi's appear to have this one available.

  • 6 months later...

Five months - still no Liptons.

For a while there I was able to buy something similar - Heladiv, but now they to are also not being stocked.

Central are talking about next month they will have stock again, but Big C said today there were production issues.

As BritMan stated Typhoo is readily available on Lazada as is Yorkshire Tea ( but the price might put you off Yorkshire ).

Lipton’s is the poorest tea available imho and i am amazed it sells !!

PG Tips seems to be going the same way, weaker than a Larry Grayson handshake !

A little off-topic, but fascinating!

While in Sri Lanka, I met a "tea taster".

Real high salary, and his only job was to taste the tea after harvesting!

He needed to blend the right harvested teas together, to produce the exact taste(s) that various brands wanted / required.

Obviously had to give up a lot, super spicy foods, (or any food before his work shift) not much alcohol, etc. etc.

But he gets to drive a new mercedes in a fairly poor country.....

How much are the ginger nuts?

Online they're 89bht.

Couldn't find them on line from my normal shopping sights, ( and of course no shipping fee)  sorry I can't remember how much but as I hadn't seen them for 2 years I brought 2 packs and ate near 1/2 a packet for my lunch. .........:coffee1:

That's OK, found them on Lazada for 65bht/packet including delivery.

I just checked in Villa Thonglor - no Liptons. But as others have said it really is the most insipid "tea" you could ever have. I brought back about 1,000 Yorkshire tea bags on a recent UK visit.

Villa did have Wispa bars though which I have never noticed before. Delicious!!

Yup they're completely gone from the shelves of all supermarkets in Sakon Nakhon. I've just ordered 2 boxes (200 bags) via Lazada.

It's the Chinese. They like it better than oolong and are taking it back to China until the shelves are bare.

I've been looking for my favorite "Twinings Earl Grey Black Tea" at Big-C, Lotus and others in Bangkok but no luck.

Didn't see any Liptons either. No bag tea at all!

What's going on?
