Thaksin Shinawatra’s secretive meet-up sparks political uproar

Former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra’s sudden appearance at the Pheu Thai Party’s headquarters has sparked intense speculation about his true intentions.

 

To dispel mounting rumours, Phumtham Wechayachai, former Pheu Thai Secretary-General, clarified that Thaksin’s scheduled rendezvous on Tuesday was merely a gesture of convenience.

 

“It’s not about control. It’s about respect.”

 

Phumtham asserted that the visit was solely to facilitate interactions with party MPs whom Thaksin holds in high esteem.

 

Addressing concerns of power play, Prime Minister’s Office Minister Puangpet Chunlaiad reiterated that the meeting held no political sway.

 

“Every Pheu Thai member wants to see Thaksin, but it’s purely personal.”

 

Deputy Transport Minister Monporn Charoensri highlighted Thaksin’s historical ties to the party, underscoring his natural inclination to reconnect with Pheu Thai MPs upon his return to the country.

 

Thaksin’s unexpected appearance comes amidst a backdrop of health controversies and legal battles. After a tumultuous stint in prison, his recent parole and discharge from a hospital have raised eyebrows, with critics questioning the timing and motives behind his release.

 

Ministers within the Prime Minister’s Office echoed similar sentiments, asserting that every Pheu Thai MP and party member harboured a fervent desire to glimpse the former Thai prime minister.

 

Brushing aside claims of political significance, Puangpet Chunlaiad affirmed that visiting the 74 year old Thaksin at his residence would be impractical due to congestion.

 

Deputy Transport Minister Monporn Charoensri highlighted Thaksin’s historical ties to the party, underscoring his intrinsic desire to reunite with Pheu Thai MPs upon his return to the country, reported Bangkok Post.

 

Despite initial legal entanglements, Thaksin’s reduced jail term and subsequent parole have paved the way for his resurgence onto the political scene. Critics have been left questioning the rationale behind his extended hospital stay, while Thaksin himself has exhibited signs of improved health, symbolised by his recent pilgrimage to the City Pillar Shrine in Bangkok.

They won't be able to fix any problems if they do not address the blatant corruption, cronyism and nepotism first.

If it were me who had the job of cleaning up the place, I think I would want to start with the military and the wunnerful medals-bedecked generals before I got around to Thaksin.

Well I'm sure I am not alone in enjoying how rotten things have been going for you in the last spell. Also knowing how much it's going to get even worse with the return and vindication of Ms Yingluck.
