herfiehandbag
I wonder how many (if any) English (only) speakers she prescribes for every year. I don't really understand Top Chaoren's business model, they seem to swamp the place with shops. Mind you, pretty girls, and I do like those tight white trousers suits they wear! To my surprise she spoke ZERO English, which is shocking to me. If Thai was the international business language, I would speak it fluently. She had all the modern equipment so I felt confident that after 30 minutes of testing, she would be able to at least prepare a decent pair of glasses for the office only. Nope. I arrived today to try on my new eyeglasses that were so substandard I was shocked. Essilor which are my current lenses were purchased in Indonesia for less than half the price. I agreed on some locally made lenses and I was assured they were as good as Essilor. that were not much cheaper and they were so poor they were impossible to accept. 1000baht down the drain. May fly to Singapore to get some. Go to Rutnin. Possibly better than most eye care facilities in the West.

I see them once a year, follow up visits are more like THB 1500 , but I pay only 10% of those bills. Remember, Thailand is now a country for people with proper health cover. And, due to other reports of "poor" English, new testing was supposedly being set up. I wonder what college this ladi obtained her degree - one of those that family money kept greasing the wheels of education I guess. Who hires that kind of graduate? Thats great. Good for her.

Popular Post rexpotter
The point here is Thailand Is supposed to a be a world class medical hub. Over almost 25 yrs in the area, the level of English has not improved. It has gotten worse, even amongst professionals. Yes, it’s a difficult language, but I would consider it mandatory for all in the medical profession here. The other part which is more serious is that the students only get a translated version of what was originally written if they only learn in Thai. So, whomever went to University in Sweden, France Australia etc, kinds of writes all their training material with their particular twist to it when they return and eventually teach. If you go to one doctor that comes from CMU for instance you have basically visited them all unless they have had intensive overseas training. 1 1

Couldn't be better. Up steep stairs, small, friendly, spoke English, tested my eyes, discussion, laughed at my jokes, chose my frames (Essilor) from limited samples, glasses ready later that day, careful fitting, 7000฿. One year later couldn't be happier with them. Well, if they laughed at your jokes, I'm headed there.

She uses Nikon lenses... which are made in Thailand, but to Nikon QA standards. Not dirt cheap, but reasonable. Looks like your attempt to scrimp has backfired! mrwebb8825
I'm still trying to connect the title with the topic. What does her education, degree and English proficiency have to do with the poor quality craftsmanship of the finished product? Was she required to read the prescription into an AI computer lens crafting machine in English? Sorry but it just seems your title is 1 topic and your whining about high expectations and substandard results is another. Now, since you claim to have lived here 25 years and counting, one would think the onus is on you for not having learned anything about living here.
