I had one bigger than that taken from my back many years ago. It was done in office. No hospital needed. It was almost as big as a tennis ball. Local anesthetic was only used. In Thailand though they will insist on hospitalisation or to be done in hospital simple for the extra money. It won't be cheap for a foreigner

Nothing wrong with the extra caution they use in LOS, as for extra money, perhaps you worry too much about your cash....🤭

Of the many cysts out there, I've been describing the smaller white roundish harmless "millium cysts" near my eyes and seems like in Dr Pimple Popper's videos Dr Lee doesnt hesitate to burst the sack.     I wouldnt/didnt. OH well.     They develop just under the outer layer of skin and can be related to moisturerisers and health issues, etc.  Waiting till theyre bigger can be easier to remove.

I'm guessing you'll need a plastic surgeon more than a dermatologist...   But perhaps consult with both.

Give over. I had a cyst removed recently at a rural government hospital by junior doctor. Just received a local injection and job done within 30 mins. Can't recall the exact cost but I'd say no more than 300 Baht. Removed the stitches myself it's that easy.

Give over....  sounds like you had a zit you couldn't pop... and it seems you think that is the only type of cyst that exists and only your cheapo experience is valid....   Surprised you didn't tell the op to just cut it out himself.

Conversely...  I had 3 cysts on my scull and one on the leg....  Plastic surgeon dealt with it...  (ended up with numerous stitches in the head and leg - 14 in total)...  they had to make sure they got the root out too... then sent everything for biopsy (all ok).

Price was about 40,000 baht (insurance covered it).

Only a specialist can decided what needs to be done - and depending on the issue there is a likelihood that that either specialist dermatologist and plastic surgeon will want to consult with each other, especially if the area is close to any 'nerve clusters'....

But sure... go ahead and use an inexperienced junior doctor for the cost of a craft beer !!!!

I have had a sebacious cyst on my forehead for about 5 years now, which has slowly been growing in size. I just received this reply from Chao Phraya hospital in Bangkok...

I'm not keen on a general anesthetic and the price does seem very high. In the UK this procedure can be performed by specialist clinics, under local anesthetic, for 25 000 THB or less.

Whether or not it can be excised under local or needs general depends on its size and depth. Also, if it is really just a sebaceous cyst vs a lipoma.

Likewise, whether general surgeon (or even dermatologist) can do it vs need a plastic surgeon.

These are not things they can know in advance, need to be seen by a doctor.

Emails are responded to by clerks with no medical training, they look at various price lists they have and try to guess what is closet to what you are asking. Not at all a reliable means of ascertaining either cost or planned approach.

Invest 500 - 1000 baht in a doctor consultation, then you will have a clear recommendation and applicable price quote. Which may be far different from what you got by email. Indeed, if it is in fact a superficial sebacous cyst, might be able to remove it at the initial outpatient appointment.
