Maybe those people think the blocking feature is a real blocking feature like on Reddit.

 

On Reddit, if you block someone they can't read your posts anymore, it shows up as 'unavailable'. That's the only blocking feature that makes sense. Otherwise they would be still able to see your posts and quote you and harass you.

 

The old way of blocking is just totally useless, it increases the work load for mods because you can't just make yourself unavailable to trolls and have to interact with them which leads to derailing threads, threats, bickering and so on.

I don't mind the blocking feature.  Now when I look at posts there isn't as much dribble to read. 

 

Should I post something,  the normal (reply) antagonists are invisible to me.   There aren't a lot, but like mosquitoes they become annoying. 

 

No need to advertise the fact of blocking, just do it. 

 

(I must admit that when I was new to AN, I did once say "You're now on my blocked list"... Why?  Unsure)
