Ex-Police Chief's Wife Suspected of Seeking UK Citizenship to Escape Charges

Nipapan Sukwimon, wife of Pol. Gen. Torsak Sukwimon, the former Thai police chief, is reportedly applying for British nationality.

 

This move is suspected of being a bid to avoid money-laundering charges in Thailand, according to lawyer Sittra Biabungkerd, who lodged the charges against her and others.

 

Nipapan, also known as Madame Kookkai, is believed to be linked to an estimated 200 million baht in laundered money.

 

She reportedly received monthly cash transfers of between 59,000 to 159,000 baht to her bank account via a network of 'horse accounts'. The funds were allegedly used for various activities including the construction of a tourist resort and merit-making rituals at temples.

 

Authorities are still investigating the origins of the money. Initial suspicions point to illegal online gambling operations and other illicit activities, with the money funneled to relatives and subordinate officers of top-ranking police officials, including Nipapan’s husband and the ousted deputy police chief, Surachate "Big Joke" Hakparn.

 

Nipapan's husband, the former Police Chief, has been suspended from duty amid these allegations.

There is an element of irony here - these people either directly or indirectly have been making immigration difficult for the British for years and now want a forever British visa themselves to avoid criminal charges, only in Thailand!!!

A complete non storey. You can't just apply for UK citizenship on a whim, it's a long drawn out 5 year process just to get permanent permission to remain. Getting a UK passport takes longer.

Uk citizenship based on exactly what? She has a better chance flying to France then ditching her passport and any ID’s and jumping in a boat and come across that way. Seems to work for everyone else. She’ll get the red carpet and fast tracked when they see its a female.

People just don't realize the kind of money involved, for the top clowns in the RTP pyramid scheme, like Torsak and the Joke. It would sure be nice to see some of them convicted. It would demonstrate a true step forward. 

 

As the wife of a crook, she should pay a heavy price for his crimes. Same applies to their kids. They benefitted from the ill gotten wealth. At a minimum they should be subject to great humiliation and outed.

The UK does have anti money laundering laws which require immigrants to prove their source of wealth.

For her to show-up and probably buy a multi-million £ mansion in London, she would need to show how she got all that money when her husband only made around 60,000baht month salary.

I believe the investor visa still exists. Of course, won't get the passport immediately but can remain in the UK. Maybe her children already have UK citizenship. It is cheaper and quicker to get an Antigua and Barbuda passport for 100K USD. I got mine and applied a Thailand's elite based on that five years ago. Now I have four passports. Like in the movies 🙂

The Royal Thai police force is like a filthy dirty river of gread it runs always down to the coppers standing on the side of the road ripping off the tourists for money,,it will never change but hell I love living here and that's the way it's done. 

I personally think it's a better system then in the western world because you don't have to pay some dirt bag POS lawyers a heap of money.

It appears that if you want a British or Australian citizenship you must meet certain criteria.You must be a scammer,money launder,or some other illegal activity operator to be considered.

Forgive me Buddha for my sins... building a resort meant they thought they were untouchable...

better to have banked the money overseas and fled when the going got hot.

Both these and other are all a flight risk, I do hope passports have been revoked and a very close eye on them at any borders or airports.

If you don't qualify you just get the normal immigrant furnished abode with social security handouts, and NHS

Not if you try the legal route, she has zero chance of getting UK citizenship especially when the authorities find out about the police investigation.

As others have said this story is pure bull****. Applying for UK citizenship is a long drawn out process and the applicant has to be a resident of the uk. She is probably applying for a long term visa, I suspect that BJ wants his family in a safe country before he reveals the depth and breadth of senior RTP and government officials corruption.
