Joint Operation to Curb Noise & Fireworks Nuisance at Jomtien Beach

In response to noise and fireworks disturbances at Jomtien Beach, officials from Banglamung and Pattaya police carried out surprise inspections on May 1st.

The checks were also spurred by a gunfire incident on April 25th, 2024, where a drunk 29-year-old Thai man had fired shots into the sea at Jomtien Beach.

The inspections, conducted past midnight and involving Pattaya City Hall officials, targeted beachgoers, mainly teenagers. Officials checked for illegal substances and unauthorized items, and issued warnings to vendors selling forbidden goods such as Kratom water, firecrackers, and fireworks on sidewalks.

The team told reporters that these nuisance-induced items disturbed hotel guests and local residents. Many had complained about loud music, consumption of alcohol, and late-night fireworks on the beach, which hindered their relaxation and sleep.

Aimed at deterring such activities, this joint operation seeks to ensure a safe and pleasant experience for all at Jomtien Beach. Visitors are advised to work with officials and report any unlawful activities to help maintain a peaceful beach atmosphere.

At least hoped to hear they had confiscated items... but not mentioned.

The police at Dongtan dormitory have had enough.

I think it was the last straw when one of the fireworks woke them up and spurred them into action!

2024, so the police cannot install some CCTV camera's to see if there is a large crowd after 10 pm?

"...Pattaya police carried out surprise inspections on May 1st."

Surprise everyone and station a couple of cops down there every night. "You may say I'm a dreamer...."

Gee, maybe they should get up early some morning and see what goes on at Jomtien Beach in the early morning (likely all night), with loud music and partying. These people double park in the street, as do the food vendors, causing a safety hazard.

But 5:30 - 6 am is a bit too early for Pattaya's finest, so I understand.

They would have to stay awake to watch it, this ain't the UK.

There's CCTV cameras all over; some of them work; nobody watches them unless the complainant publicises police inactivity on social media.
