What part of Asia are people more friendly?

I really related to that thread in here about Thailand being less friendly 

 

But as we have Cambodian expats, Philippines expats and all other ASIAN expats NOT just Thailand on here please tell me about your experiences in other places 

 

Look I'm going to be honest with you.

I found Filipino guys more "aggressive" and dominate than other ASEAN countries but they weren't RUDE and most had sense if humour unlike im finding with Thai people nowadays 

 

The Filipino women were ok although dominant too but they all had laughter and sense of humour 

 

Malaysia was great , friendly polite people with great manners

I've worked in India, South Korea, Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand.

Travelled to Cambodia and Laos.

 

Worked with many of the locals, they all seemed nice but Thailand I reckon are the happiest, friendlier and most welcoming people.

 

Like people in most Asian countries, they assume that we are all rich so expect the occasional Thai to want something from you.

Do you speak Thai or is your communicating with Thais related to bar girls speaking broken English?  Do you have normal, middle to upper class Thai friends?  If you cannot speak Thai, how do you know whether they have a sense of humor?  I have found Thais to have a great sense of humor, however, I am able to joke with them in Thai

Have lived in the PI, VN, Japan, Myanmar, Indonesia plus some time in Laos too and basically all were about the same - they treated me like I treated them with a smile, plus EU countries, a couple in Africa and he coldest I guess were the French  since I was unable to speak "PERFECT" French.  Madrid folks were cold but outside of there the Spanish were very friendly.  Italians were great.  Maltese too were very friendly as were the Portuguese people.

The Malay tend to be overall more polite, less dodgy, more friendly than the Thais. I would move there tomorrow if it were possible.

Actally, since I am a foreigner commenting on local Asians, I just thought it was a more complete answer to add those other nationalities that I have also spent time around just as a comparison.

My point being that I worked with Thais for many years in an international company.  Spent countless hours in meetings and eating out with Thais.  Since you did not answer my question, I assume that you cannot speak Thai.  Further, your interactions with Thais are limited to bar girls, motorbike taxis, store clerks, etc, very few of whom have the ability or interest in communicating with you.  Tell us why you do not move to Malaysia - my bet is that you do not have the financial means to qualify

,maybe they had no job I dont know but I worked all my life

 

I come from Australia where we have Superannuation ,

 

I probably do have the "means " to live in Malaysia,would I want to?

I would be tempted to say Vietnam. But it is probably because I had two projects projects there and the work/after works relationships were great. Vietnamese are outstanding engineers, keen to speak English. While Thais are just.. Thais.

You do realise if you got out of America you would know someone working in Kmart in Australia today being Sunday would get $500- $600 for one day greeting people on the door so because someone in Australia has a job which you consider as you said "low class" doesn't mean they earn low wages

Laos is a miserable <deleted>hole.  Almost all of the Filipino teachers I have met are nasty little cretins.  Cambodia doesn't have roads.  I guess when you put it like that Thailand is up there on the list of friendly places.

As someone who has lived (and taught) in/from Laos for years, I'm unsure why you call the country a sh*t hole.  What's the problem?  Are you referring to the people?  I certainly can't agree with you.

Thais do have their own charm, but above all else they're Thai. I think they like to call it "Thainess."

 

Kinda fun, dumb, clever, cunning, and cute all at the same time, while being absolutely unabashedly sinful and utterly beneath reprehensibility.

 

Quite sure most other Asians are the similar, but the Filipinos, Burmese, and Indonesians that I've met are more global minded and relatable. You can actually have a conversation with them on broad topics.
