All quite expensively fitted out in a very similar style, identical signage almost like a franchise; all with few if any customers. True, but my real point is that the ground has always been extremely fertile in Thailand. You can grow anything that can flourish in a tropical climate. Thus, nobody has ever gone hungry and there has never been a shortage of food, even prior to any foreign investment. Well, we have to define "operate", but most of the big, well-known foreigners here have Thai majority partners. Not sure what Anutin is on about, other than to point out that the authorities have been lax in enforcing the current laws (business licensing/foreign investment). He has sweeping law enforcement capabilities with his own "police force" (DOPA) so he could easily verify all of the shops (ownership, eployees/work permits)in a week or so. It seems strange to me that there is such a focus on cannabis, or vintage rice for that matter, when so, so many massive problems are impacting Thailand and her citizens. Economy, climate, lack of job opportunities, education, health, prison over-population, and methamphetamine all require politicians' attention. This is why the Pakistanis in the UK open shops side by side to each other, mainly empty, they are selling Indian Curry and KFC style takeaways, very few people buy from them, but they carry the air of respectability and are a ' front ' to launder their drug proceeds, which is by far, their prime source of revenue. The Police are well aware of it. Just keep your head down. Stay below the radar so to speak. Don't disrespect people, don't try and infringe on anyone else's livelihood, follow the rules, don't try and change the way they do things, be kind to people, and you will get the same in return. Nobody will give you any problems and you will be treated with the same respect and generosity in return most of the time. What you are mainly seeing are instances where foreigner are crossing the line or breaking the rules. States his product and exports are guaranteed by a merchant bank, and he brags about his 700 pound a month villa rental Chiang Mai area. Then a other openly boasts about both his drug usage and supply to clients and raves Krabi area. These and the rest of their ilk supply the xenophobic Anutin with his ammunition.
