Another video on the Toropets missile/ammo arsenal strike showing the facility still burning with the plume of smoke visible from space.  The main reason I'm posting it, though, is the news conference given by the regional governor, where he says the Russians shot down some drones and the debris started a fire that's being dealt with.  All the while with the repeated sounds of explosions in the background.  Nothing to see here!  Baghdad Bob, meet Toropets Tom.

Also a still from the video showing a press release from 2018 when this facility was built to "the highest world standards", highlighting how well it will "ensure their (missile and ammunition) safety and explosion and fire safety".  The Russians must be terrified and furious in equal measures.  While the video commentator does speculate whether a missile was involved in the attack, mainly because of the purported strength of the shielding around the missiles stored here, other sources have said over 100 attack drones were used in the operation.

Following from the above post, an article from RBC-Ukraine stating:

"Sources told RBC-Ukraine that the attack on the warehouse was a special operation of Ukrainian defenders, involving the Security Service of Ukraine, Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, and the Special Operations Forces.

It is confirmed that the attack targeted the warehouse of the Missile and Artillery Department, where the Russians stored missiles for Iskander tactical systems, KN23 ballistic missiles, missiles for Tochka-U tactical missile systems, guided aerial bombs, S-300s, and artillery ammunition.

According to sources, more than a hundred attack drones were involved".

Russia claims that 54 drones were "destroyed". Possibly when they hit their targets and exploded.

A magnitude 2.8 earthquake was recorded in Toropets after a drone attack on an ammunition depot

After that there were 7 more tremors with magnitudes from 2 to 2.8.

The giant ammunition depot continues to detonate. Google maps satellite imagery shows hundreds of crates that look like ammunition lying in the open.

The West has finally declared war on Russian disinformation
Putin aims to discredit liberal democracy at home and abroad, and social media gave him a platform to do so

While Russian state media is no longer able to present the case against Ukraine to large audiences, it may not need to. An April 2024 CBS/YouGov poll showed that 61 per cent of Republicans, 50 per cent of Independents and 26 per cent of Democrats oppose sending military aid to Ukraine. Amongst Republicans, 56 per cent trust Ukraine-sceptic conservative media outlets as information sources about the war, while only 33 per cent trust war correspondents and 27 per cent trust the State Department.

One European defense official said their government shares the concern that following any deal, Putin would prey on insecurities in the West as he prepared for a new conflict. What’s more, the official noted, it would be politically difficult for Zelenskiy to sign any agreement that includes territorial concessions while Putin’s goal to subjugate Ukraine in its entirety remains unchanged. At the very least, it would make sense for Putin to wait to see who wins the US election and what their actual policies are, said the official.

your plan is a bit unrealistic, but it would be the right thing and very satisfying.

yes, that's something I have been saying for years already.

Russian disinformation networks need to be silenced and their supporters (Musk, Tucker Carlson, corrupt Western influencers) reigned in.

I'm happy to see the West is finally taking steps against it.

The Russians have been at it for well over ten years already. It will stop now.

Please provide your evidence of Trump telling the Russians not to invade Ukraine.

I'm pretty confident that you won't find any, since in fact, he stated while he was in office that Ukraine should be part of Russia, and when the invasion looked like it was about to happen, he described Putin's actions as 'genius.'

Hardly observations indicative of someone opposed to, or who was ever likely to try to prevent, the Russian invasion.

Trump Believed Ukraine ‘Must Be Part Of Russia’

Quote

The former president “made it very clear that he thought, you know, that Ukraine, and certainly Crimea, must be part of Russia”

As Putin eyes Ukraine invasion, Trump praises his actions as 'genius'

Quote

"This is genius," Trump said. "Putin declares a big portion of the Ukraine ... Putin declares it as independent. Oh, that's wonderful."

According to the article:

appears to be a hybrid, something Ukraine is becoming expert on

Unprecedented resources mobilized by the Ukrainian forces have significantly amplified the devastation. An inside military source in Kyiv disclosed that over 100 drones were involved in the operation. Pro-Kremlin Telegram channels mentioned the possibility of a new "Palianytsia" missile drone, whose successful test was announced by President Volodymyr Zelensky at the end of August. In contrast, Ukrainian site Defense Express leans towards the theory of a modified "Neptune" missile with a tripled explosive payload.

The likelihood is high that the strike was a hybrid attack, utilizing Ukrainian rocket drones and cruise missiles.

Early Wednesday morning, September 18, a series of powerful explosions obliterated a major ammunition depot near the town of Toropets in the Tver region. The hit depot, labeled Arsenal No. 107, housed 240 tons of ammunition and was situated 500 kilometers north of the Ukrainian border.
