Maybe it's time to have foreign bouncers, better trained people, like years ago farang bar managers started appearing. Thais haven't got the language skills amongst other things

Hiring trained Thai personnel would be enough. These guys obviously have no formal training in handling such situations.

In fact it has happened to me years ago in bkk, I'm not sure what soy in sukhumvit. Maybe 4 or 5. When we were ready to leave I told the waitress to calculate the total of bills that were in a glass on the table. She did it and I paid, but when we reached the street a waiter and a waitress came after us and said: you forgot to pay for a bill !!!!!!

I told them that you told me what to pay and I paid. She claimed that there was a mistake. 
That's right 🤔what would you do ? Pay 300 or 400 for a lie or get involve with something like what happens usually to tourists ? 
I paid and we left, because I imagined what will happen next. This is what it is here.

I watched the YouTube version. The foreign guys were dicks for refusing to pay and then squaring up to the guards, who are paid to sort this type of trouble out. The head kick looked bad but I don't think the guards were wearing boots or heavy shoes, although the guy in white did look hurt, so that was excessive as the guy was one the floor anyway and no threat.

As far as I can see the guards were just doing their jobs, which is to give a good hammering to people who refuse to pay. But the odds were ok and better than the usual 10 onto 1 we see on videos. Seems like the usual high quality pissed up Brits Thailand sees to attract, or their equivalent from somewhere else, where they want to play the big hard guy, but actually can't handle it.

I remember a couple of years ago, I walked into a Russian owned bar in Walking street with a half empty water bottle. The Thai security guard rushed after me and without saying anything started to twist my arm until I let the bottle go. Some of those people working for the bars are just mental.

Do you treat the bar girls with the respect that they, and other service providers, deserve?

 

Do you treat people you meet, without exception, with respect?

 

Sometimes, it's not so easy; I know....

 

However, if we all practice this Golden Rule, as I try my best to do....

Then, all of our lives will flow more harmoniously.

 

Don't say that "I can't, if they don't treat me with respect."

 

Somebody has to begin somewhere.

 

One of my famous friends, an Ivy League Linguist, taught me the value of respect for others.

 

And, ever since that time of my enlightenment at his hands, ....

I have always done my best to treat others with respect.

 

Treating others with respect costs one....NOTHING...

Nothing.

 

If you want to live happier lives, both in and out of the bar,....

Treat those you meet with respect, always.

 

This entire fiasco could have been defused before it escalated if...ONLY....

The participants has treated each other with a bit of common courtesy and RESPECT.

Missing things is quite usual for retarded individuals. we're living in a tolerant society.

That's a new twist. Bill padding is pretty common once the punter has had quite a few and bought a few more for the ladies, but something doesn't sound right there.
 

The geezer already paid his own bill and now the bar wants to force him to pay a ฿2000 bill of some other bloke that he doesn't even know?

 Sorry, you experienced that, totally over the top but it is common sense not to walk into any bar with a drink from somewhere else. Lesson learned?  stay safe

yes i remember that, a nasty business in the "Tunbridge Wells" of Thailand, I may be wrong  but i seem to remember the perpetrators actually got some jail time for that

I do not argue...I de-escalate and talk to Manager.  I certainly would not scream at a lady, who is making less than 600 baht a day.  Also, I am not stupid to shoulder check a Thai security guard.  I live here and know the rules.  The amount of money under discussion is NOT WORTH MY LIFE DUDE!

not saying this is what happened
but from experience i can tell you
it is very common for expats and tourists to quickly make new "friends" here while out n about,
move on to the next bar together as a group
then the new friend suddenly disappears after running up a bill
had this happen a few times, even with expats when in groups

I suppose the old couple and their son a few years ago who got a severe gang kickdown ending in hospital and very serious injuries was a figment of the imagination.  Wake up for god sake or does it make you feel safe victim blaming? This could very easily happen to you so better lock your door and hide under your bed....
