Not sure if the guy can still win, as swing voters might be affected. Also, the Convicted Felon is likely to rant about how he will take down 'the corrupt and rigged US system', and that will hurt him with the same swing voters. Perhaps---just perhaps---Republicans will do the right and smart thing and choose someone else as their candidate. Might be their only chance. The convicted felon has never yet won. He was SE-lected in 2016 by the screwed up 'electoral college' rubbish, not E-lected. He won't win this time either - decent people are generally in the majority. But the actually rigged part of the system may yet again see the loser of the vote installed in the WH. Interesting days. 2 1

He'll find how quickly his support in D.C dissipates and he'll be nothing but a husk of bad makeup and a man with no family. Yea ... I think he's done as a political opponent. Which in itself is scary for the USA. If biden gets the nod from Dems, it's even scarier thinking harris will finish out his term. 1

No dissent. Seriously lock him up for 1 year which is just one quarter of the maximum sentence he can be served with 1

I shouldn't do it, but here's my prediction for the November elections. 74 million American adults voted for Trump in 2020. Not many will have changed their minds. Voter turnout was 66% in 2020, but will be much lower this year. And that will hurt Biden more, especially because of his abhorrent Israel Palestine policies, and voters staying home or voting blank in battleground states. The archaic electoral college, that Biden has never even attempted to change of course, will do the rest. Predictions are difficult, especially with regard to the future. 1 1

The prosecution was very careful to NOT say what the underlying offence was that elevated 34 minor misdemeanours to the level of felonies. The judge in his instructions said the same. If you think that the 'revelation' that Trump slept with a porn star would have scuppered his election chances, you don't know the American people very well. It may well have had the opposite effect... 1

Of course the rich and powerful can be convicted. It depends if they are on the wrong side of the political divide. Look at Thailand for example, Thaksin (like Trump) was removed. In fact Thailand now has many similarities to the USA in terms of removing popular politicians via kangaroo courts. 1

If I remember well, there was a kind of infrastructure bill voted with the support of Democrats under Trump.. Republicans tended to oppose it Well in reality.... Quote "Donald Trump campaigned on a $1 trillion infrastructure plan. “We are going to fix our inner cities and rebuild our highways, bridges, tunnels, airports, schools, hospitals,” he said in his 2016 election night victory speech. “And we will put millions of our people to work as we rebuild it.” And Quote The Trump administration’s record on infrastructure is marked instead by over-hype and under-delivery. The $1 trillion (later $1.5 trillion) package boiled down to a series of White House budget sketches, proposing to use $200 billion as an incentive for private investors, states and localities to put up the remaining $800 billion. “We believe this will create a great return on taxpayer dollars,” stated a 2018 White House press release, which cited a $5.4 billion light-rail referendum in Nashville as the kind of locally-funded project the administration hoped to encourage. Nashville voters rejected the rail measure three months later. And the president’s building vows never came to pass. “I think we’ll look back on these four years as a missed opportunity,” said Adie Tomer, a fellow at the Brookings Institution Metropolitan Policy Program. “This administration has been a major letdown for nearly all state and local officials and advocates.” He promised to "deport every immigrant living in the US illegally. He ended up deporting less than Obama did. It makes me laugh when trump supporters claim "He did everything he said he would". The bloke is a grifter who relies on the confirmation bias, poor education and short attention span of his supporters. 1 1 1 1
