You are correct... Pitbull is an umbrella term used for the breeds as you state. 

 

It is a term used worldwide and accepted as such.  So how about you give it a rest?  Or what is YOUR point?

But if the writer of the article had wrote 'mongrel' instead of 'Pit Bull' then people would have just skipped over the article. I have an 'American Pitbull' and I say "that dog in the picture is 100% street mongrel'".

The problem here is you don't know if that photo is of the actual dog.  They just do a search for 'dog tied up' or such and post a picture.  'The photo credit says china press.

Not again! Pit Bull, or a Pit Bull cross - they are an unpredictable danger to the public and should be banned.

"It's never done anything like this before" is too late, I'm afraid - it should be  euthanised immediately, as it is now likely to do it again, next time it feels the owner's son is "threatened".

The post reads like the dog was not provoked just reacting negatively for the first time. 

The cost of covering the medical bills & cosmetic surgery will be big bucks over a long time.

 

The dog has lost his family friendly licence...................village justice will prevail eventually.

I love dogs and have never had a bad run in with any dog.  Several dogs have displayed aggressive tendencies but I know what to look for and to give them a wide berth. 

 

A very good friend had a Pitbull x,  he treated it like family.  Generally a great dog.  One day it just snapped and went him.   Several stitches in his hand later, he decided to put the dog down.  He could no longer trust the dog around his young child. 

 

They (Pitbulls) are known worldwide to have the ability to be unpredictable and aggressive.  Hence why many countries have registrars for these dogs, some even ban them altogether.

Yes, the key word here is "unpredictable". A few years ago, a Pit Bull that use to sleep in the same bed as his "master" suddenly turned in the middle of the night and bit him to death, and if I remember rightly, it was taken to the temple a couple of days later to apologise to the corpse!!!

All the dogs that I have seen in villages across Isaan, are not “pets” in the Western sense of the word. They are street dogs that roam around their village territory, under nourished, un medicated, untrained, unwashed and unvaccinated. Many are aggressive. Many are in packs, because an “owner” has several dogs.

The dog in question in the article will be on a chain for as long as the owner can be bothered to keep it there. I fear, not long. After that, all bets are off on whether the dog bites again. Odds are it will for one reason or another.

While this is mostly true the breed was bred to be aggressive and fight. This, in itself, was stupidity as they were always going to end up as pets. It probably has the highest incidence of death or serious injuries amongst other breeds. It’s a bad breed!

Here we go again.    This topic has reared its ugly head too many times, it will do again and again, each time with 7+ pages of bickering, and the dog gets to live.

The story goes that the owner of the dog(s) there were 2 was bedbound. So who fed and watered them? They did not sleep with the bedridden owner.

Yes your'e probably right. I was only quoting Sambum about sleeping same bed as owner.  "Dog kills even its owner in unpredictabe unacceptable behavour" was the theme.

Regardless, the whole affair was much argued here and the anti P.B. dog  protesters (OR  mongrel dogs for that matter) won the useless/futile debate re the poor owner who lost his life, and the latest dear 5yo girl could have lost hers like 3+ other dog stories here. Who is next in that soi? same dog? or any soi?         What's it going to take for the pro P.B. owners here to rethink? The death of a dear one?, We wont hear from them again, re their own loss of life.

Giant, aged 2, the Pit Bull breed or Ban Dog that savaged its owner to death last week has been taken to his funeral in Pattaya.

He took part in a ceremony called "khor khama" in which he apologized to the corpse.

When someone "important" gets attacked. Farangs, farmers, ordinary workers and their children aren't really relevant unfortunately.
