With mobile phone and working on mobile phone or tethering/mobile hotspot. Mobile phones are not best with signal quality as they have no proper antenna. A SIM router with an antenna might be useful. Just did a test with my GOMO SIM (AIS). In my room in the back of the house: 35/15 (down/up) On the balcony outside: 48/52. (GOMO SIM unlimited speed, is available only through a Thai proxy, can't register with passport). Unreliable to US: invest in a good VPN (I have NordVPN) and connect trough Singapore? Or not worth for temporary stay? The whole area is well covered. I have a GOMO SIM as a second SIM in the mobile phone. Although they have an English language website there is no chance to register with passport. If you have a Thai partner he/she can register with Thai ID card. https://gomo.th/ ("EN" in the upper right corner)
scubascuba3
If AIS doesn't work for you in your location try DTAC, not sure if True is the same these days
KhunBENQ
If the mobile has a second SIM slot available it's easy to test/compare. SIM cards easily available at the booths in the Lotus's mall. Start about 200 Baht/month. As usual registration needed.

Back up is a one year DTAC mobile plan for unlimited data which gives 5-7Mbps (one device at a time though).

Gomo is indeed not a substitute for a fibre optic connection that I have. For me a mobile SIM is just for use on the road/shopping. I have the 150 GB package and even if I use that up before the year is over I fill up (online) with a new package and still cheap. 100 GB in one month: there are SIMs/packages available for that with 10 to 30 Mbit/s. But I am not up-to-date on that. They became much more expensive during the last year. Edited June 30 by KhunBENQ

What's your annual download? 😊 You missed the point. With GoMo, you can buy the smallest pack, say for 99 baht. Just 10GB and 10 minutes of calls.....and then add the unlimited 10Mbps 30 day package for 160 baht. Works out a little more than 2000 baht for unlimited 10 Mbps annually. Interesting, since it's on the AIS network about which you complained. Are you using 5G? Perhaps full speed data gives you a higher priority on the network. One-Time means that you have to renew it manually, as opposed to it re-subscribing automatically. They really should go in to correct their typographical errors. I wasn't sure if VAT needed to be added, so erred on the side of caution. So if still available via the App, then it should be 149 baht.
Barley
If I want to buy a Gomo 99 THB yearly, can I upgrade at any time to a bigger YEARLY plan. The monthly plan here changed from 149 to 259 THB, as far as I can see on their website. Can I order the SIM from Lazada under my name and then activate under a Thai friend's name? KhunBENQ
57 minutes ago, Barley said: Can I order the SIM from Lazada under my name and then activate under a Thai friend's name? Lazada? No I don't think so. I ordered from the GOMO website. https://gomo.th/package (select EN in the upper right corner) Ordering in English language is possible. BTW: they added new "extreme" packages that look completely useless for me. Bloody expensive, limited speed and 100 GB/month. Activate under a Thai friends name is no problem. Whether they have improved the registration in English with passport?
KhunBENQ
Upgrade the 99 Baht package? I guess you can at any time. Kind of "test" package to see whether it works well. Upgrade is done from the app. Haven't tried it as my 150 GB will not run out soon. Edited August 7 by KhunBENQ
Barley
Yes, I can order it from Lazada. It's already in my cart. My question was more related to the second part: under my name and then activate under a Thai friend's name And of course: can I upgrade any time from 99 to a bigger YEARLY plan? Yes, quite poor the new packages, especially when you can add a Prepaid package to an AIS SIM for 300 baht per month, so 3,600 baht per annum. Clearly better than their 3,799 baht package. 5G internet 40GB (+internet speed 15Mbps 60GB per month) FUP 1Mbps Unlimited free calls to all networks (15 minutes/time) Unlimited free AIS WIFI AIS Play family free
