Additionally, Cheewarattanaporn expects a boost in tourism in Bangkok's Chinatown after its spotlight in a music video by K-pop star Lisa from BLACKPINK.

Lisa, who has a massive global following, released a music video featuring the iconic neighborhood of Yaowarat in Bangkok. The video, titled "Rockstar," has already gained over 5 million views just three hours after its release on YouTube.

Well I watched the video, purely in the interests of research you understand! Chinatown got about 5 seconds in the opening shots so I doubt that it will get that much of a surge - interesting that the 7/11 sign was changed to a yellow star on a red background!

She is a very pretty girl, although personally I preferred the image flogging mobile phones outside 7/11 (oh those boots!). As a rapper - well there was no f'ing and blinding, gang signs or drive by shootings, and she doesn't appear to have a "bitch" so I didn't rate it on that score. Also I understood every word!

A pleasant video, easy on the eye and carried a jolly tune. Good for watching/listening with a cup of tea in the morning sunshine on my verandah.

I doubt it will add the millions to the tourist numbers though!

The Association of Thai Travel Agents (ATTA) predicts .................. another load of total khrapp.

Just like TAT counting border crossings with Malaysia, Cambodia and Laos as 'visitors'.

Russian tourism will drop a lot this year because the war will be ended soon.

Sth Koreans dont view Thailand like they used to, and the countries are in dispute over Thais being blocked from entering Sth Korea.

India - fair enough - they are growing big time as world travelers. But the reality is that those Indians with money go to Dubai, Singapore, Europe etc. Those with less money come to Thailand and Vietnam - but not many come back twice - except those visiting Pattaya.

China will continue to be the dominant source of tourists - but are they true 'quality' tourists coming now/future. Plus of course there were two places that Chinese escaped Mao - Taiwan and Thailand. There are a LOT of Chinese people entering Thailand every year for business and to visit family and friends, but TAT counts them all as 'visitors' - same as all the Malays doing the same down south.

IMO if TAT could count all the illegals entering Thailand, they would also count them as visitors - maybe they do?

This is due to the strong support from the government and the country's positive global image.

details please, make it simple - just name 5 then name the serious negative image as read in the news every single day from violence to accidents and all in between - from a democracy joke to blatant corruption, and of course prostitution doesn't exist in all the main tourist areas - are you ### kidding

Blue Tree Phuket announced on June 22, 2024 that the decision to cease operations of Blue Tree Lagoon, the company's main business segment, on 1 August 2024, was made to meet changing customer demands.

They will smash over 40 million visitors this year.

Mass cheap tourism, which will inflict an ecological damage to the country.

The chase for 'quality tourism' has gone. Instead the new mantra is just let everyone in and stay.

Disgraceful.

The big problem in Thailand is they don't maintain the standards especially in the hospitality business, I've seen a few examples of it in the last 12 months, We have had quite a few of my wifes family come down here to Phuket and they are not afraid to spend money, One 5 star resort here in Phuket we visited, it's dump it's old and looks it, we went to have breakfast one morning, I was looking forward to having Bacon and Eggs and some sausages, the food on offer was like they bought it from 7/11 even my Thai family complained about the standard of food, the only plus for that hotel was the location had a sea view,

This time last years my daughter booked a 5 star hotel in Karon, The place was empty only 6 rooms booked, The breakfast was garbage whatever the cheapest thing they could buy, after one week I had not seen them clean the pool I did ask my daughter had she seen them, she said no, I went to the management and told them get that pool cleaned, dead frogs in the pool, maintenance is not high on the list in Thailand.

Some of the restaurants around Karon leave a lot to be desired, on more than one occasion food not cooked properly,

The only decent restaurants were the Farang owned ones, couple of nights in the Turkish places they were good, I can recommend them,

If Russia requires a mass mobilization for the Ukraine war, Thailand will be filled with Russians.

IF US and EU requiers a mass mobilization for the forthcomming Russian conflict, Thailand will be filled with Westerners..and in this case more westeners run away than russians

Neither the US nor the EU have any plans to mobilize troops, whereas Russia has a shortage of manpower for its war with Ukraine.
