Whatever the Democrats do, you can be sure it will be really really dumb.  Democrats inside the Beltway all seem to be living in a delusional fantasy world. And they really do believe their own nonsense.  Fortunately, they have a date with reality in November.

What if Biden comes back and does well at the second debate in September. It could happen. I was surprised by yesterday's debate because he seemed competent enough at the State of the Union. Why couldn't he do that again? Will Trump be overconfident? I think replacing Biden at this point (I've heard that his name cannot be taken off some ballots) would mean chaos. It sends the message he's not in condition to be president right now and so should resign for Harris to take over. That said, I'd be happy if Fetterman replaced Biden. He's solid across the board. But right now, he appears to be one of the few offering any loyalty to Biden.

Pot kettle black.

I'm not woke, far left, or socialist.

I'm center left, pro capitalist, pro NATO, and pro democracy.

For example one of my favorite youtube channels is Jake Broe, a conservative pro military republican who like me correctly calls maga and Trump fascist.

I do agree with your views on Ukraine and Israel so at least we have that in common.

Supposedly, the Biden family is having a big meeting tomorrow.  Maybe he will do an LBJ and drop out of the race.  That’s likely.  Less likely but possible, he steps down from the presidency for “health reasons.” That’s what should happen, but then the Deep State would have a President Harris issue to deal with.  A real nightmare in the midst of the U.S. involvement in Ukraine and the Middle East and a shifting balance of power.

Ukraine, the Middle East, and now the involvement of China and North Korea.  The balance of power in the world has shifted, and the U.S. has a foreign policy based on a fantasy concocted by a bunch of warmongers and Neocons.  Add to it a President who knows nothing and might just take advice from the State Department and it all adds up to WW III.

Most probably nothing changes but I sure hope he withdraws from seeking the nomination and does not endorse Harris.

There is a constitutional element. President Biden could now announce he is no longer seeking re-election. He might say due to reasons of ill health. But then, how can he remain in office? He could resign, and Kamala Harris takes office, appointing a new VP. He might not want to resign, but that will trigger Section 4 of the 25th Amendment, that was brought in after JFK was murdered. But thats a process that takes a cabinet vote, or a vote by some other body determined by Congress; could the Republicans stop Biden from stepping down, if they feel his presence aids their cause, or more importantly, stop the elevation of a potential candidate (which could be Harris or a new VP) into a national role that threatens the vote for Trumpf. In addition, Section 4 allows for Biden to state to Congress that he's fine, he's recovered. There is no medical threshold. The key parts are when the President ceases to be President, the VP immediately becomes President, not Acting President.

North Dakota, South Carolina and Georgia never ratified this. They might not recognise the holders of office. The VP has an important role during any transfer of power. There would be somewhat of a constitutional crisis, irrespective of Democrat Party candidate procedures, that would affect not just the US, but the broader Western world and alliances.

A president is not obligated to stand for re-election. Nor does he have to give a reason for not doing so.

Unless there is a dramatic change in his condition,  there is not going to be any attempt to remove him from office for the few months remaining in his term.

The problem is that he seems determined to run again no matter what, and the Democratic Party until very recently seemed equally wedded to the idea despite polls that consistently showed this is not a good idea.

You fail to mention that article says that's impossible as she will never do it!

Newsom also insists he's not gonna run, and we all know he's lying.

You can tell, because his lips are moving.

If Biden steps down, you "can not" just replace him at the convention.

It docent work like that. Biden was places on the ballot by the state elections, the d-party "can not" just replace a person voted in to be

the party candidate. 16 states have that policy. The d's have painted

themselves into a corner, shot their own foot and are screaming like a

bitch.

You don't have a clue.

Delegates go to the convention and start voting.

Most are Biden delegates.

If Biden withdraws.

First ballot delegates vote for anybody who has entered race.

Little chance of a first ballot winner.

Subsequent ballots super delegates can vote as per democratic party rules.

Their priority is beating Trump.

Most likely Whitmer.

The tribe?

In any case I hope that he does step down but if I'm predicting. I would say that he won't.

They might wait to see polling after a few weeks.

If he just loses a point or two, I doubt he steps down.

But if it's 5 to 10 points, much more likely.
