Can a Friend use my Card in an ATM

I am having mobility problems. If I give my friend my card and some cash can she pay the money into the bank through the ATM?

, or failing that take the money and card into the bank proper. Over the years I have never had a mobility problem before.

Technically she can but violating rules strictly looked at.

Using your card would require to give her your PIN and card (violating terms and conditions).

 

Another option: if she is Thai (ID card), simply give her the cash and your account number.

She can pay to your account at the ATM but has to identify with her Thai ID card.

Don't ask me how it works exactly.

Going to the counter is bulletproof (again she will be identified with her ID card).

Yes, but you have to give her the PIN of your ATM, too.

So she would be able to empty your account. 

But you don't have to give her your card.  Give her only the cash,  she can use her own card to deposit the money at any bank account, not only hers.

She can also do it with her ID card.

No, the bank will not allow her to use someone else' s card.

She can go there with her ID card

Thanks for that, The last thing I was worried about was draining my account. I only use this bank to pay a standing order which is why I top it up each month with a small amount so there's always enough in there.

I'll ask her to take the cash and my bank book into the bank.

I made the mistake of giving someone my card and PIN.....the beatch drains my account every month....but we are still happily married after 18 years.

Can you actually pay cash into a 3rd party account (at the counter) in Thailand now ??

 

We havent been able to in the UK for some years (even if it was your wife)

 

Pay it into your account and then transfer online but cant pay it in directly

As others have said.

Giving her your card doesn't help.

Just give her the cash and your bank account number/full name as on your account, and she goes to the normal bank teller..fills in the deposit slip (probably need to show her ID card) and the transaction is finished in a few minutes.

There is no problem. My Thai BIL had to use the bank branch as the account can’t be accessed via an ATM only physical bank book and branch deposits are available for that account. That was all he could do

Banking aside, I don’t know anyone who has been in Thailand for a decent length of time who would call Thailand the land of the free.

I will presume the Author has long solved his issue but just to note:

 

At least at SCB ATM several years ago, it was possible to deposit into an SCB account at the SCB ATM with the account number and no card his or hers -- just the account name to verify.

I have never heard Thai people call it that except in tourism brochures.

Not depositing but I used to withdraw money every month for my mate who was severely disabled, who left his card in my care, when he passed away I withdrew 100k of his money, to pay his hospital bill and his cremation, even 4 months after his death I took out what was remaining, about another 30k. otherwise the bank would just keep it.

This is not illegal I think. But this does break the terms of service and you would have no protections or sympathies at all if you lost any money or your account or your identity was compromised/ So this is a VERY bad idea indeed

 

What would make sense if you trust this person would be to transfer some funds to be via PromptPay and to have her take the money out of her account. In this way neither of you will breaking the terms of service and this is clean and tidy.

 

I am very sorry to hear about your mobility problem and I do understand. Last year I broke my ankle while hiking and I had a couple of months when my mobility was affected. So while I understand I strongly recommend against sharing your card and your PIN.
