Anutin Furious Over Move to Reclassify Cannabis as a Narcotic

Deputy Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who also serves as the Minister of Interior, has vehemently opposed the Health Ministry's plan to categorize cannabis as a controlled substance once again.

 

This move, proposed by the same committee that had earlier recommended its decriminalization during Anutin's tenure as the Minister of Public Health, marks a significant pivot in the government's stance on cannabis, stirring substantial controversy.

 

Anutin expressed his severe dissatisfaction, arguing that such a reversal could undermine the faith of investors and destabilize the burgeoning cannabis industry in Thailand.

 

During his previous role in public health, his administration promoted cannabis for medical and economic purposes, a policy that diverges sharply from the current trajectory suggested by the Health Ministry.

It would/will be a catastrophic step in the wrong direction if Thailand chooses to go ahead with this.

Billy the Kid died too, and sheriff Pat Garrett is just as notorious.

They have a great philosophy and business model. For  fledgling business into bakruptcy, tax foreigners who bring in billions, they say thailand is #6 place for retiring expats.

They need to convince us of this, but when people considering retiring here look at the tax scheme... if i bring in 800k for my retirement visa i get taxed... lets say 10%. I then need 80k to make up for the taxes. I get taxed on the 80k... and so on...

 

They chase away tourists who wish to travel here and enjoy a toke...

 

They will legalise casinos to attract tourists when in fact thais already are compulsive gamblers who ruin their families with this addiction, they support the booze and cigarette monopolies because they get kickbacks.

 

This place, were it not for my wife and the hurdles i have to jump to get her to canada, makes me want to puke now.

 

Things have surely devolved in the 20 odd years i have been here

HI Anitin. How about you pay the shop owners compensation from your own pocket since you pushed them  (fooled them) to open shop knowing full well that "legally", because of the momentary loophole in the law, is just an empty "mirage" word.

On this issue I entirely agree with Anutin. It would send all the wrong messages to potential investors to now flip-flop back from partial de-criminalisation to full re-criminalisation.

And he should be furious and millions of other people should be furious, especially the people who have invested a fortune in stores, counting on the support of the government. This is likely the only thing that Anutin has done in his political career that was beneficial to Thailand and the people. 

 

And now the proxy dinosaurs are trying to erase that progress.
