When begging for visa extension at immigration I often see an older Farang gentleman with a young Thai "associate" (usually full of tats) doing what looks like an accounting job. Perhaps if he gives her something to do it doesn't look to the rest of us normal folk like he's paying her for nothing.

 

So my question is to what extent is it feasible for women who have previously worked as bargirls in Thailand to successfully transition into careers as accountants, considering the educational, social, and professional challenges they might face?

It all depends on the couple's presence and language or lack of language. Some might have worked bars for years, and you wouldn't know, and some never worked bars, and you would think you know

 

That's the nature of it, but in general, every older man with a younger girl, would end up in last category no matter how hard they try not to be

I know a cashier from a bar who later worked in a proper accounting company. As far as I know she really was only a cashier.

 

And I know a sexy gogo dancer who told me before she worked in a bar, she learned accounting and worked in an accounting company.

But she received only 16k salary in an accounting job and she wanted more to be able to send her son to a decent school.

She met a very rich guy who paid for everything.

 

In my experience there are not few bargirls who studied and have a degree - and the usual university pictures.

The problem is that they can earn more in a week in a bar than a month working in accounting.

In general, lots of pretty girls are not stupid. They look at the available opportunities, including bars and sponsors.

And some girls enjoy their life with a "rich" guy.

Cant really blaim them, the smarter ones I mean, unfortunate the not so smart ones, tries to copy the more resourceful ones, and ending up continue working bar or freelancing while having a drunk back home. The other side of the medal

Ok, there are some really stupid girls, they can't even process the basics, they do what they do. But then, they don't really know it because they are so stupid.

 

Apart from them, I think the situation often has not much to do with how smart the girls are. I know some girls who seemed to be smart. But they made bad decisions and/or ended up in bad situations with abusive partners, gambling problems, etc. That is not restricted to stupid people.

And there are lot of girls who are not really smart, but who understand enough about the world around them to make good money and don't go completely crazy.

 

The route can be to property agent, or in the case you mention it's an agent like MOTs, it all comes down to who they know. It won't be accountant.

 

A good friend of mine she started in a coffee shop in Pattaya, now a lawyer, in court every week
